If the Flames don't get one of the Fins/Matthews and pick a forward, he's the next best thing. I wouldn't be shocked if he went 4th overall.
Moving forward it would look like
Gaudreau-Monahan-UFA #1
Dubois-Bennett-UFA #2 with possibly swapping Dubois to C and Bennett to the wing.

One of my concerns with Dubois is that the Q is the lesser of the 3 CHL leagues, and recently a lot of top scorers who lit up that league (Drouin, Mantha) have completely fallen flat in their transition to professional hockey.

Yeah, this is a. concern. It even goes for MacKinnon: as good as he has been I think most expected him to be better already.

If we draft below 5th, fine.
If we use a top 5 pick on Dubois I'll sit back and be a silly upset fan at the draft.
Matthews, Laine, Puljujarvi, Tkachuk and Chychrun should be the top 5 we target. Dubois over, say Nylander - yeah I'm on board with that. But ahead of any of those 5? No thanks.

f the Flames don't get one of the top 3 forwards my preference would be a defenseman. Chychryun or Sergachev.
