there has to be some chance that out of that horrible defensive system Schultz has a great end of season/playoffs

I'm curious who Edmonton fans will blame now that Schultz is out of the picture?

It would have to be one heck of a 22 game stretch for Schultz for that to happen...

Can't believe he is worth a third! Well, fetched a third, I should say...

I wonder how much he regrets not staying with Anaheim. Haha

I wonder what kinds of things he will say in a few months after being in a locker room with Crosby instead of a locker room lead by Hall.

Will be interesting. Watch him flourish and become an actual top 4 player. It will be glorious and just goes to show how poorly Edmonton develops their own.

This might be the best trade the Oilers have made in years

I guess I can't write Schultz rebounding off completely. But personally I think he's ruined right now. I think he'll have to rebuild his game in Europe or in the minors before he can play and make a positive impact in the NHL again.

Guess we'll see.

Would you? He'd likely be in the ECHL making $30,000 a year as opposed to playing for an AHL caliber team making millions.

I am inclined to agree but stranger things have happened. I think Schultz is really lacking in the 'give-a-####' column and I don't know how much that can be corrected at this stage.

There is something to be said though for a situation where Sidney Crosby is looking at you in the dressing room instead of Taylor Hall.

This to me is a really weird deal for the Pens, they trade for a guy that's pretty much washing out of the NHL and give up a 3rd round pick for a guy that they would have to qualify at $4 mil.

This seems like tossing away a draft pick for a guy that's not going to help them in the playoffs.

Perhaps Treliving can swing off Russell + FL's 2nd for 1st, Murray, Sprong.

So one of the biggest problems within that giant tire fire gets salvation with an opportunity to learn to be an actual offensive defenceman from Letang and a chance at the playoffs?

Lesson here is if you're going to suck, suck the hardest you can possibly suck.

They have a perfect mentor for Schultz with Letang. If he can help him figure things out - there is a potential home run here for the Pens.

Flames fans shouldn't talk #### about this trade. This is better return than what we got for Hudler by comparison of performance. A third for Schultz? Worst defenseman in the game and he got pack a freakin' third. Good work by Chia Pet.
