Oilers send G Nilsson to Blues for 2016 5th round pick, minor league G
It's believed EDM has traded Nilsson to STL in exchange for a mid-round draft pick. Possibly a 4th or 5th rounder.

This trade makes little sense to me for the Oilers. A backup that put up some pretty good numbers at times this year.

It is going to be hard for any playoff team to justify Hiller's cap hit when there are so many backup options on the trade market with less than a quarter of his cap hit available that could arguably provide similar quality of goaltending.

Actually they got him off the Hawks for Liam Coughlin, who was a former Oilers' 5th round pick.
Basically they hit the reset button on that whole thing.

Oilers acquired Nilsson from the Blackhawks for Liam Coughlin who was the Oilers' 2014 5th round pick.
The Blackhawks had previously acquired Nilsson as part of the Leddy to Islanders trade.

Yeah I think the Flames are stuck with Hiller until the end of the season. Big cap hit for a backup and he suck too most of the time.

I actually thought Nilsson was pretty good until he saw more rubber in 60 minutes than a Saigon prostitute.

I guess they must believe in Brossoit. I would have thought they would have given him a few more NHL games before proclaiming him your backup.

I like Nilsson and that would've been a great price for the Flames to take a flyer. Good for the Blues.
