Did John Shammon just say Hudler could maybe get a 3rd round pick?

Remember when Wideman left the ice at practice on trade deadline day last year?

Just a room of practical jokers.

Hudler will fetch way less because he's smaller, weaker and less physical. Ladd can fight through the tighter checking in the playoffs much easier than Hudler. Ladd hitting your defense over a 7 game series is going to wear them down more than Hudler not hitting would.

Point production isn't the only thing you should be looking at when evaluating players and their value.

Hudler is probably just trolling the media like Wideman did last year.

If there's that many then I'd expect it to go down to the wire and happen on deadline day itself.

Well I think we all know that being a smaller guy in the NHL doesn't mean you're a bad player. And not that I'm comparing Hudler to Gaudreau but players will adapt to their own size and playing style.

It's kinda like questioning NYRs trade for St. Louis a few years back. Not a big player but was a veteran with playoff experience and the scoring touch.

Also Boedker and Vrabata aren't hitters either so I think the value remains less than Ladds but still higher than people will think.

The only thing that could hold up a Russell trade are teams waiting to see what will happen with Hamhuis.

That being said Hamhuis doesn't waive his NTC for 16 teams, he will only waive for a select few.

Kempe would be interesting, but he's on the LW. A RW would be nicer. Possibly Zykov? Maybe go for an add in like Auger too?

Hudler still had 8 points in 11 playoff games last year, in the end teams will look and say those points could be the difference in a series.

Blows my mind that a guy can go from waiver wire fodder a few years ago to one of the hottest acquisition targets ahead of the trade deadline.

Thats the NHL for you. There is no board, values aren't set in stone, many many more cliche's could be said.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Hudler is in the lineup tonight, so the speculation can subside for now. Jooris the healthy scratch tonight. #Flames

With the Hawks giving up Dano+1st for just Ladd (and filler) I wonder if we could get Nichuskin+1st for both Hudler and Russell?
