OT, but I don't like how Pat lingers at the beginning of a word near the beginning when he starts a sentence. Not sure how to describe it, but basically he'd sound something like this:
"And th-th-the Flames were nnnnnnnot very good on the powerplay tonight. Tttthhhhey needed to be more aggressive around the net".
Bob Mackenzie was asked where he thought Drouin would go in this draft if he was suddenly put into it and Bob thought 4th at lowest. So if Yzerman still values him as a top 5 pick they are going to want a ton.
I don't think Drouin goes in the top 10 if he re-enters the draft. Teams usually covet the new shiny prospects over ones drafted a couple of years ago. Especially if that player isn't an established NHLer.
I like Russell as a leadership guy. Dont much like him as a top 4 or 5 D man on the Flames. The fact that he's going to get paid 4million + in the off season, makes me want him gone super fast.
I think he's one of 3 Flames D man cloging up the development of younger up and comers in the system.
Either way, I'll be glad when he is dealt so Lou can stop yelling at fancy stats Pat and vice versa.

How do you figure he is "clogging" development?

Apparently the Blackhawks are shopping Teuvo Travainen hard right now. I know folks were thinking it was Dano being dangled but if TT was available, you gotta think the Hudler situation is going to be very profitable.

Nakladal and Wotherspoon are feasting on their chance right now due to Smid and Russell's injuries and they're faring quite well.
OK.
Nakladal is 28 years old and has been playin against men for quite some time. Wotherspoon was drafted in 2011 and the fact that he is playing well is, if anything, supporting the notion that leaving a player in the minors helped Wotherspoon game rather than hinder it.
If the guys we have in the minors can't steal jobs from Engelland and Smid and Russell, then they really shouldn't be playing in the NHL yet, and from the results of their play in Stockton I have to agree with the fact they aren't up yet. It's the job of the prospects to take these jobs, not be handed them.
If anything Russell is helping our development system, not hindering it. Unless you want to throw our only prospects to the dogs and have them booed off the ice, Ala Edmonton Oilers.

Maybe because they had the opportunity to get ice-time in Stockton instead of being a 10-minute 6/7 guy in Calgary?
Agreed - and also we have to remember that Wotherspoon in his last shot, and Kulak early on this season both looked great to start, and then started looking overwhelmed and regressing. Let's see what a larger sample size gives us.
I also think that if the Flames did not have depth on defence, these kids might have been fed to the wolves and perhaps ruined.

I doubt it. Nick Boynton was taken in the 1st round twice. Lombardi actually went from a 7th rounder to a 3rd rounder when he re-entered. Jarret Stoll actually went higher in the 2nd round after we couldn't sign him and he re-entered. None of those players were established NHLers when they re-entered the draft.
Drouin was ranked ahead of Barkov and Monahan by lots of scouting services. This kid was and is considered an A+ prospect. Very rarely do they become available. I know people have argued his value should have gone down but it's not going to tank his value. Yzerman does not have to trade him unless he gets a good return. And there are teams out there that will pony up to get an A+ prospect even if we aren't (and I don't think it necessarily makes sense for the Flames compared to other teams.)

Lalji reporting Blackhawks very interested in Hamhuis and Vrbata
Canucks would love a 1st + prospect like Ville Pokka but it all hinges on whether Hamhuis would waive his NTC
In the next 24hrs will get some clarity as to whether Hamhuis will waive.
Blackhawks can take a $4 million cap hit right now.
If they need more cap space, it is possible they offer inducements for a team to take Bickell off their hands
Nothing close on Ladd.
Unlikely Jets and Ladd bridge a deal before monday
Ducks think Ladd price too high.
Ducks looking for a left shot winger but may not want to mess with their current chemistry
Bruins and Eriksson still swapping proposals but still believed large gap between parties
Yzerman would rather move Drouin before deadline to get an asset or two to help team in playoffs, but will still keep his standard high and may have to wait until the summer before moving him.
Wow...they should have gone to commercial and collected themselves. That was one of the most ridiculously unprofessional discussions I've ever heard on radio. Honestly, WTF? Have that fight off the microphone you guys!
That's truly embarrassing and neither guy should really be on the air anymore, regardless of their pedigree. You have to be better than that.
