Hooked on TV shows on DVD
What a great way to watch a whole season. I even finished 24 season 1, a few years ago in less than 2 days. This year so far I've watched:
Lost Season 1, 2
Crank Yankers Season 1
House Season 1
The 4400 Season 1
In Living Colour Season 1, 2, 3
South Park Season 1, 2, 3, 4
The Wire Season 1, 2, 3
Arrested Development Season 1, 2
Chappelle's Show 1, 2
Sliders All Seasons ( love that show LOL)
The Office UK Season 1, 2
The Office US Season 1, 2
The Wire Season 1, 2, 3
Family Guy All Seasons
Seinfeld All seasons
Right now I am watching The 4400 Season 2. Pretty addictive show so far. After this one, I got House Season 2 coming.
Man I love zip.ca unlimited rentals... muah ha ha!
What are you guys watching? Any recommendations?

I've gotten into this as well. It is to the point where I prefer to watch them on DVD. I'm specifically putting of the Sopranos so that I can watch them on HD-DVD.
I am about to start Nip / Tuck (3). I have also downloaded the first 4 episodes of The Wire (1) in order to give it a test run before buying it. I noticed you've watched them. How is it?
You dont have Nip / Tuck on that list. It is decent. Although, the characters make such poor life decisions, that I get very upset.
You also dont have The Shield listed. So far, I've watched the first 3 seasons, and they are great. I really recommend them for a gritty adult drama.
West Wing is another series that must be watched, IMO. The season arcing story lines are incredible when watched in a short time frame, especially Seasons 1-4. So many more intracies in the writing become apparent when you dont have to wait a week to see the next episode, and months to finish a story line.

Deadwood is a great series available on DVD (first 2 seasons anyways) - worth checking out.
Great to see the Wire on your list. I think that is the best show on TV right now.
And you should really check out Battlestar Gallatica.

I only watch TV shows on DVD. Right now I'm watching Lost: 2, Office (US) season 2, and Arrested Dev season 3.
Jiri, I'm probably going to try "The Wire" since you seem so high on the show.
Another DVD I've recently bought but have yet to watch is Firefly which I also got from CP.
Anyone watched Invasion or Surface?

i download most of the TV shows i watch as with my work schedule i can never watch them when they're on, and for the quality shows i usually end up buying the DVD sets. and i have to say that 24 is probably one of the most dangerous shows to have an entire season for. i think i spent almost 2 days doing nothing but watching season 1, and another 2 for the second. they need to put a warning label on the box

aside from Battlestar Galactica, Firefly is one of the best sci-fi shows in recent years (stupid Fox, they always cancel the good ones). once you finish watching the series you'll want to followup with the movie continuation, Serenity. best sci-fi movie since the first Matrix

Oh Firefly is a great show! One of the true tragedies that it was cancelled.
When you settle in to watch the Wire make sure you give it 2-3 episodes. This is a complex show with multiple storylines/characters with a pace that takes a bit of getting used to. But once it has you in its grasp - you're hooked
A couple others from days gone by that are available I believe on DVD:
- Millenium
- American Gothic
- Adventures of Briscoe County Jr.
BTW - thanks for the info about Zip Neeper...I didn't know Canada had this type of service. Just signed up.

I did just pick up Rome though, since I like the genre.

These are shows I can only remember seeing in the last year. I've seen probably triple more!
I've watched the Shield already, although I haven't seen any of the last couple seasons.
I'll try out Deadwood.
I agree with the Wire. It's really good.
I got Prison Break on my zip list after I get all of The 4400 discs. I only missed the 4 or 5 episode of Prison Break. The rest I watched during the season.

I have to second Deadwood. I just got the first season (I'm about 2/3's through it) and I am thoroughly hooked. It is a very interesting mash-up with many of the characters based on actual historical figures. While watching it you really feel like you might be back in a mining camp in the 1870's that hasn't joined the union yet (and is therefore lawless). Great plots, interesting characters, lots of swearing and drugs. . . what more could you ask for really?

I love watching TV shows on DVD. This way you don't have to schedule your time around TV shows, there are no commercials, and you don't have to wait until next week to see what happens next.

Degrassi Junior High: Seasons 1, 2, 3 (hopefully they decide to release Degrassi High on DVD too)

UK Coupling is great especially the first three seasons with the Jeff character. The fourth season has it's moments but it's just not the same.
