Joe Colborne is a decent option for 4th line or play up in a pinch. He's a shootout specialist.

Despite Hartley and his shoehorn, he is not a) powerplay specialist b) pointman on the powerplay (wtf Hartley), c) penalty killer, or d) top 6 player.

I don't disagree- just that the comment came right after his sole mistake in this game.

According to NHL.com, the Flames have the lowest time on the PK of any team in the NHL at 237:53 in 58 games or 4:06 per game. This includes the last month, since Wideman's hit on the linesman.

That's 50:51 SH TOI in 10 games or 5:05/game, basically a minute over our season average (which includes these 10 games). This is a 25% increase in SH TOI.

If this 5:05 trend were carried over a whole season. we'd be around the 17th most penalized team, instead of the 30th.

Not making any claims, just putting the numbers out there.

Since he got sat down, he's been pretty good as far as his abilities go. He's better than Jooris, Bollig and (formerly) Granlund IMO. Also a decent option on a faceoff. He's been better than Bouma too, IMO.

Things are picking up in the third. Good play by the Flames. And Ortio is continuing to try and stop pucks. At this stage, that is all we can hope for. I'll be pleased even if we lose this game.
