Flames also have 2 scouts at NSH @ MTL tonight

Flames do have games against Bruins, Preds, and Habs in March
For whatever reason I feel like Hudler ends up in Nashville.

Not sure who on the active roster would be available though, would they try to get rid of that Craig Smith contract already?

Vlad Kamenev, Jimy Vesey, Juuse Saros, Marek Mazanec would all be great targets from NSH if they are a trade destination for Hudler.

Drouin could potentially fit in nicely on the 2nd line there.
Hopefully we get lucky and nab Matthews or a Finn in the lottery and put one of the finns on the first line wing. Man. Would be amazing.
Shinkaruk! Haha.

Wow, those are two of the higher-up guys.

Well Rinne is starting tonight and he's a 33 year-old with 3 more years left, so he's likely not being scouted. Nashville's defense is decimated, so I'm guessing if they're looking at anyone it's Craig Smith on the RW; 3.75 cap hit for three more years, and is essentially a 25-year old David Jones replacement if I could pin it on anything.

That's if you're assuming this is a Calgary target. If Nashville or Montreal want Hudler or Russell, it could be more a young player/bad contract + pick coming back

In order to have a good read on every player in the AHL and NHL you must scout all of those players multiple times per season. Our scouts are out scouting all the time, that's their job. They don't wait around all year only to start scouting specific targets pre-deadline. So yeah, scouting MTL and NSH doesn't necessarily mean much at all.

I'm not saying these reports of who we are scouting are completely useless but trying to read anything into them is pretty tough. All that said Galchenyuk and Eller would be a couple guys I'd be looking at whose names I've heard in the last while.

Well Conroy is obviously, but MacKinnon is one of six pro scouts, not a higher up.

Thought MacK was an important scout.

Mackenzie on TSN: Flyers may have had an offer of two 2nd round picks on table for Gudas.

He also said those 2 2nds might have been the picks San Jose just sent over for Polak.

Backlund and Shinkaruk for Galchenyuk. Flames still have to add?

Galchenyuk, Eller and De La Rose are what interest me off their roster assuming they wouldn't move Gallagher.

Eller isn't an upgrade on Backlund, they're the same age, and they play the same position. Not sure why we would do that unless we were getting something valuable back with Eller.
