We don't know the guy (Reimer) and no one's asked his opinion. For all we know, he has no interest in playing in Canada again. Spezza had a "no-Canada" clause.

I am very confident that if the Flames want Reimer as a UFA, they'll get gim as a UFA.
No other team in the league can guarantee him starting minutes, and that's what Reimer wants.

You're probably right. Says a lot about our org's ability to find talent in net when we are the 1 team in the league where he would be a starter.

i don't think Riemer would be a bad addition-he's been hurt alot, but look at his stats playing for that crappy team. If i remember correctly, he's a western Canadian boy too.

I'm still not sold on Riemer. I think he's had a good year but how much is he benefiting from Babcock's coaching. He loses his net at least as much as Ramo, and likely handles the puck worse.

Even if you look back at previous years, his stats aren't eye-popping, but most years his numbers looked good. Those were terrible teams too.

If he wants more then 3 years or more I wouldn't do it. I'm not a fan of locking goalies up long term unless they are clearly consistently elite. I don't see it in Reimer and would rather the Flames find a different goalie for a couple years.
Goaltender is arguably the most important position, pay the price to get someone good.

I don't know about that. He hasn't even managed to play more then 40 games a year in 5 seasons, he'll likely play more this year though. His GAA and Save % aren't that good and I'm aware the leafs have been quite bad defensively but still I'd pass.
Getting key players from bad teams never seems to work out, especially when we get former Leafs.

Except the Leafs have made it clear they want to dump Bernier which indicates he already has a team he can get start minutes with. I still think he never gets to UFA.

The way Reimer has been treated in Toronto thus far in his career, I wouldn't be surprised if he can't wait for his plane ticket out.

If I'm Tre I'd gamble on Bernier for the one season remaining on his contract before signing Reimer or Ward for a couple years. Heck I wouldn't be opposed to signing Ramo again for another year.

He's 50/50 whether or not he's going to be an above average goaliei anybyiven year. He would be a fair pickup for 3 years or less but I don't think that will be an option. If the Flames want him, it will take 5 years and 20m to get it done IMO.

Some of you are probably going to think I'm weird, just because I'm pulling this trade out of literally nowhere... but I think the first trade is going to be Granlund going to the Canucks for Shinkaruk.
I can't really explain why I think it's going to happen, it's just a feeling I have.

I had that feeling too. Only a select few of us are lucky enough to be gifted with it. Use it for the greater good of humanity, my son.

Anything after February 15 is a deadline deal in my books. Certainly anything within the last week before the deadline is.
