Why is Okposo listed as a LW? Guy has played the right side his whole career in NY.
He tops my wish list. Still young and gives us that 1st line RW we desperately need.
Antti Raanta is also on the want list. Not a great year this season but his past numbers are pretty good. Young and cheap.

this. only 2 guys I'm really looking at.
Backes/Lucic/Ladd....still just seem overrated players. don't want to get loaded down with guys that aren't the answer.

Just say no to anyone over the age of 28.
It's a young man's game now.

Dime a dozen? Probably not the best choice of words.
Overpaid? Undoubtedly. Almost all UFAs are.
Marginal top 6 rate? Not sure about that.
51 points in 82 games in 13-14
28 points in 45 games in 14-15 (projects to 25g, 25a over 82g.)
38 points in 58 games this year (53 point pace)
Seems like solidly top 6 pace. Guys who can score 20g and 50 points are top 6 forwards in this day and age. He's a 26 year old former 1st round pick just entering his prime. Lets not sell him short.
That said he isn't one of the guys I'd be willing to massively overpay to get so I do think its unlikely we end up with him. Doesn't quite fill our needs as much as some of the other guys available.

Stamkos would be good but he's going to want a crazy contract
Lucic would be good but overpaid. I don't think they could get him at a reasonable rate
Okposo would be the best on the list IMO
Staal on a short term deal would be good but he's not worth what he'll likely get
Backes would be good but only 2-3 years tops and he likely won't want that
Raanta would be the best goalie option IMO
Reimer would be a decent consolation
Ward on a short term low money contract would be good
Jagr would be the dream signing
I"m not the biggest fan of Boedker for some reason, I hope they stay away from him. I'm surprised no one is saying Byron.

The thing I like about Boedker is that besides being fast and having a decent set of hands, he has a fairly decent all-around game.

Boedker would be a good third line guy to replace Jones or Colborne. Thinking of him as a top-6 forward is asking for trouble, IMO.
I love Lucic, but he's going to get PAID by Vancouver.
Okposo would be a huge get, but fitting him with Monahan, Gaudreau and Giordano's new contracts might be tight.

Huh? Sorry but you're going to have to defend that point of view. He's pretty clearly a top 6 scorer by most metrics.

Slim pickings for D-men.
Quincey or Goligoski would be okay.
Yes please to Okposo, but can't see that happening.

Lucic is going to end up in Vancouver and we are going to hate him for years.

"I love Lucic" would be a great name for a TV series.

Meh... Vancouver is going to be trash for the foreseeable future, Lucic or not. It's better that he goes to them than LA or ANA... now that would suck.

We need to fill a hole on RW and G
I would be happy with any of the following:
Okposo
Ladd
Backes
Eriksson
Jagr
Lucic
And on G:
Reimer
(Although signing any of these guys may require Monahan to take a bridge deal, unless we can unload some of the poor contracts on the team - Smid, Engelland, Stajan, Wideman)

Lucic would be awesome. If he ends up in Vancouver I'd cry. I'd laugh, because Vancouver shouldn't be signing guys like him, but I like him a lot and really don't want him in Vancouver.

I would given Gagner and Schultz a PTO, as well as sign Raanta.
Anything else would have to depend on why happens at the deadline

Barf. Exactly the types of players we don't need. Small, soft, bad defensively. We have to be HARDER to play against, not EASIER.

Almost exactly a description of Frolik.... Need a better description than top-6... second line or middle 6 is more accurate.

I would like Backes. I like his grit, and he has good hands too. I'm not going to pretend I know what is wrong in St Louis in the playoffs, but I would overpay Backes for shorter term.
Obviously Stamkos would be number 1, but he is not worth what he will get (10M+).

agreed, I saw him in Toronto the other night and he was standing on his head...I understand it was only one game but I left thinking I would take him if he was available and came at the right price.
also, backes, okposo, or lucic
