I didn't realize the inferiority complex when it came to Calgarians was so intense but this thread definitely proves it. I guess all it takes is a massive drop in oil prices eh?
Calgary is a city that not many people even know exists so yeah, it is the little things that I miss in the big little city spending a real valued currency.
Is that the post you guys were looking for?
Look, I'm genuinely excited to come back and I'm honestly disappointed in a lot of the replies but thank you again to those who were helpful.
Move on guys

I don't know, I've been to Phoenix numerous times and frankly Calgary is a way nicer city. Its not close. There is way more to do here than there is in Phoenix, the food there doesn't really blow me away and the whole place has a weird vibe to it.

bahahahahahaha, that was like 15 years of pent up "everything I've always wanted to outright say about Calgary that you stupid simpleton small town folks are so stupidly proud of", coming out after always suppressing it into little passive aggressive drive bys.

Funny thread.
Fun fact: Half of the 'cuisine' section on the Phoenix wiki page is about McDonald's.
Pretty much sums up how awesome it is. It's the McDonald's of Canadian retirement destinations: Hot, cheap, and not too ethnic.

I love that this guy lives in PHOENIX and sharts on Calgary. Phoenix! We're so impressed that you live in Phoenix, man. The Paris of the desert. If only the teen burgers were better, then it would be a paradise on earth.
Phoenix!

I'm legitimately curious about any restaurant that makes completely writing off Calgary's food scene possible. I usually make it a point to try a nice restaurant in any city I visit and would honestly rank some Calgary fixtures right amongst the top teir (Can't say I've ever had a steak better than the ones I get at Saltlik)

Unless it's massively improved, Saltlik isn't even the best steak in Calgary, IMO.

I can be pretty self deprecating about Calgary, but to get on your high horse about Phoenix of all places? Phoenix has got to be the dullest, most most boring US destination I have ever visited. My parents in their 70's were considering buying a winter condo there, and spent a month. They got 'too bored' came back a week early. All they could say was. "It was warm I guess."
Calgary is no San Francisco. But Phoenix isn't exactly Fiji either. It's a strip mall in the middle of the desert that closes at 5:30 every night.

Perhaps not (Haven't visited Caesar's in a while but they'd likely contend for my personal fave), still better than any I've had abroad though. Out of curiosity, what's your recommendation? I'm feeling like a steak right now

You can choose how you want your burger done at crazyweed Restaurant in Canmore as one example. They can do it in Canada but the beef needs be ground within the restaurant.
EDIT: I see this has been answered!
