Default Smid leaves Wild game with upper body injury

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Ladislav Smid with an upper body injury. Won’t return tonight.

Looked like he jammed his shoulder or neck

before the Wideman suspension, Huska said Nakladal, Wotherspoon and Kulak were most deserving of a callup

I missed it, is it another neck/concussion issue?

It looked neck-related. Not to sound alarmist but he may have to call it a year/career and hang 'em up.

I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Hopefully it's not a neck injury. That said he's been pretty bad lately so I don't see this hurting the team overly.

Its million's so take with a grain of slat

Roger Millions @RogMillions
Hearing Ladislav Smid injury may not be good. Upper body. Further examination. I fear for Smid if it is the neck area.

Steinberg's response to the aforementioned tweet from Millions

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Was initially told nothing major. Very interesting story to watch. #Flames

I hope he's ok but I wonder if this is one of those situations where the team suggests to him that his injury is too severe to continue playing and they place him on the LTIR and get the cap space. The guy is only 30 but I doubt a lot of teams would have interest in him after this contract due to his foot speed and injury history.

I'd appreciate it if Roger was a bit less trigger-happy with his tweets ... that being said, in this case I really do hope that he's wrong!

You know, his last injury to his neck was serious enough, head/neck injuries are nothing to play around with.

Hopefully Roger is wrong on this one.

I"m just saying that because of his history. He suffered a serious injury, it was first reported to be nothing major and now it is. I do hope he's ok and I questioned why he'd come back after that injury to begin with. By going on LTIR for the duration of his contract, he gets paid, the team gets cap relief and he can step away from the game. Even if this is a minor injury, it has to be an eye opener for him. The play didn't look that serious at all but that's all it takes to injury the head/neck area.

My friend on the Flames told me Smid will get another doctor's look today. They are extra cautious his previous history. He may be out for 2-3 weeks. I guess thats fairly serious.

How about Kylington to generate excitement on a rather grim season?

It didn't look like a serious play. But who knows if Smid is even able to handle the bumps and bangs of hockey anymore
