Thumbs down Trusteeship - lawyer suggestions

Unfortunately we are going through what a lot of families do as their parents and grand parents age... We need to apply for trusteeship for an aging relative who's been deemed mentally unfit.

I assume that, sadly, many of you have been through the same thing and was hoping that there were some suggestions for reasonably priced, decent lawyers in town who specialize in this sort of thing?

We don't do that kind of application, but they can help:

Check if the relative is competent enough to make a Power of Attorney and Personal Directive. Threshold for that is lower than a will.

Yeah, in my business I've come across this more regularly than I care to admit.

Listen people, please make sure all elderly relatives have their documentation in order before they get 'too elderly' otherwise it becomes a long, painful and expensive process.

Thanks all for the advice. I'll contact the firm you recommended Troutman. Agreed on the PoA and PD... Very needed document.

I sent my folks to Trout to get that all taken care of. He did a great job for them.
