All I want is for all the trades to happen before deadline day so we get two networks full of bored idiots trying to look important.
It's like a second Christmas.

BrianWilde @BWildeCTV:
TSN's @DarrenDreger says he is hearing Eller's name out there for a trade.

I've been lucky the last few years, my usual days off have been on deadline day. This year, not having a job ensures I get to catch the crazy action.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
I always would take the day off but won't be able to this year. Always found it better to take the day off as, even with a lack of trades or activity, I would always be distracted at work checking websites or listening to the radio updates.

If it was a Tuesday-Thursday there is a good chance I don't take it off but since it is a Monday having a long weekend helps.

Could we get Reimer for a conditional 3rd?

Therrien won't be happy until he can ice an entire lineup full of plumbers. He grinds every bit of skill out of his players, and those who decide to keep some flair in their game are belittled and benched.
Don't look now, but the French media in Montreal have their knives out for Subban. They ran Chelios, Roy, and Koivu out of town - who's to say they can't do it with Subban too?
Even though many of you likely can't read it, here's a quick one for laughs - Denis Gauthier lecturing Subban on how to play hockey the right way.

Do you think things through before you post? Why the hell would the Flames give up a 3rd round pick for a soon to be UFA??? Where is your head at?

I really like the idea of getting a young goalie with upside, but definitely wait until summer!

^^^ Exactly. Flames are in no rush to get a goaltender at this point. Wait until summer and make your picks from who is available. Only acquisition cost is money.

Reimer for Jooris and Stajan would be worth a shot or Bernier

If the rumors had any validity the Flames were in on all the goalies last off season too. Didn't get one. Why hang your hat on one set date?
Besides, if you really want a goalie you like, why try and go toe toe on dollar amounts on UFA goalies with competing teams? Or on finer details like NMC's if you're not willing to fork one over. Treliving hinted at that yesterday, not specific to a goalie but a UFA player.
If you can find a trade for one the organization really likes, go for it. After all, the Flames have a nice history of trading for goalies ( Kipper). You may not win all the trades you make but that one trade can set your net up for a long time.

The goaltenders the Flames were in on were all guys that required a trade. Different game this year. There are some actual starters in the free agent market this year, so there is no need to waste an asset to go after a goaltender. It would be dumb to make a trade for a goaltender right now. If you miss out in free agency, then go after a trade. But don't be giving up assets at this point.

Explore all the options, all the time. You PoV is very narrow.
