If a KHL or European team offers him a guaranteed contract, that may be Ramo's best option for next year.
Unless the Flames nab an elite NHL goalie which would be highly unlikely the team will need 2 capable goalies at the start of the year. So seems pretty likely we see 2 new goalies next year.

KHL and Euro seasons start even earlier. He is going to have to hope for a full recovery and some devastating NHL goalie injuries next season. Like the Price thing - maybe somebody will throw him a bone in January 2017...

The worst part of an injury like this is that it was a bad defensive play that led to the player being tripped into Ramo. This wasn't some jerk player running the goaltender, as it was a very preventable play.

the argument is "he has been good since he ruined the flames season"
There is no excuse for how poor the goal tending was to start the year...all three of them can take a hike

Too bad for Ramo. This season is offically lost.
Hiller should be traded for whatever the Flames can get in return. There's no reason to keep him up here. Ortio / Poulin is a fine 1-2 punch. We had Joey Mac starting for us not long ago.

The season was over in November. We held out hope of course but the math never worked for this team being able to overcome the worst start in franchise history. You can't win the cup in Oct/Nov (ask Habs fans) but you can totally derail the season. Ramo and Hiller are the main culprits in addition to shoddy team defense and special teams. He's been okay since but last I checked Ramo is the 32 ranked goaltender in the NHL. I'm sorry but unless you believe in legends like Eddie Lack, bringing him back is asking for another serving of failure.
I like his attitude and he seems like a decent fella but he and Hiller cost the team and fans the season and shouldn't be rewarded with another contract.

You think? I think he'll get a 1 year deal from someone. Say 1x1M... a small enough deal that you can stash him in the minors at next to no cap cost.

Sure we can drop him. But the alternative off UFA is what? Ward and Reimer? I'm honestly thinking that Ramo is pretty much a wash. I certainly don't mind the Flames not re-signing Ramo, especially if they think this injury is too much to come back from...I just don't think the situation will get better next year without surrendering assets. We could be arguing why the Flames took Cam Ward in a year's time.

And that's the last nail in the coffin for our season, and probably Ramo's career. Who's going to sign a below average goalie that won't be healthy until August if he's lucky?

I bet he's a Flame come next October. Just a feeling.

Reimer is likely going to be a Flame and right now I'm more curious to see who will be the backup or 1B.

I had a felling Ramo's season was done after that incident. Feel bad for the guy.
That being said, I sincerely hope the Flames do not re-sign him this time. Find two goalies, stick to them for an entire season and roll with them. None of this 3 headed goalie monster stuff.
In the end. The Flames found little success on the backs of Ramo or Hiller. As a tandem they got the Flames to the playoffs once but both were/are so wildly inconsistent it's too much of a risk to bring them back.

I hope we stay away from 3 goalies in the future just so I don't have to read the words "3 headed goalie monster" ever again.

We still need to get a #1 goalie so that hasn't changed. I'd be willing to re-sign Ramo to a two way or a cheap one way, one year contract to see how he does in training camp. If he needs time to get his game together, sending him to the minors is an option. Whatever don't keep three goalies with the Flames. He's not great but he's competent when healthy and deserves a chance.

I feel bad for Ramo. It's never easy especially in a contract year. All the best to his speedy recovery. Hopefully he is smart with his money. Seasons at 2.8M and 3.4M should give him a decent nest egg compared to us working folk.
He could definitely return to the NHL in some capacity next season, or hit the road and sign in Europe / Russia. Depends how much he wants to play in the NHL compared to other leagues.
