It wasn't as critical as it sounds. Burke said his progression was expected and they were still high on him.

The rumor was that Ribiero trade didn't go down because he blocked it with his NTC.
This is different I think, I believe what Burke meant was they tried to signa UFA but lost him when they wouldn't give him a full NTC in the contract.

I think they are trying to defuse any worry about signing him. No need to get in hysteria about whether he signs or not if you get strong compensation when he doesn't sign.
I'd imagine we'll probably sign him.

No hysteria here. A 2nd rounder would be decent compensation, so either way I would be fine with it.

Is it an end of the 2nd round pick?
I'd take any second rounder over Jankowski. He looks like a dud.

Faceoffs in key situations are very important. He's right, you win the draw on the PK and you automatically kill 30 seconds, other than the team setting up exactly how they want with full posession. It is most definitely significant.

There's nothing to be disappointed about. Burke had high praise for him. He said he watched him on Friday (Burke was in Providence to get inducted into the Providence College Sports Hall of Fame) and he has great size and all the right tools, he just isn't at an NHL pace yet, which is to be expected for a guy in College.
He'll probably need some time in the AHL, but they sounded very high on him.

The only way he walks is if he chooses to. Treliving said they will be offering him a contract and have every intention of signing him.

Burkes comment on Jankowski is identical to what Corey Pronman said about him. Pronman doesn't think he has NHL potential though
