Default The Office: Season 3

Finally, the best comedy on TV aired its season premiere tonight. Awesome show.

One of the best episodes...too bad they didn't do too much with the Jim/Pam angle. I'm sure there is lots to come though.

Anyone else see it? Thoughts?

This was probably one of my favourite episodes of The Office.

I wanted to see more between Pam and Jim. I don't like that Jim is at the other office now, I hope they bring him back quickly.

Steve Carrell was hilarious!! I LOL'd on a few occasions when he was trying to show how tolerant he is of homosexuality...

They're just warming up the Pam and Jim thing. Creating a little suspense, I love it. Also good to see another daily show man on the show, I always liked him.

^^^Yup I agree, they are handling the Jim/Pam thing perfectly. One assumed that coming back to the new season they would be together or she would be marrying the dolt, but instead...nothing. Jim's moved on yet Pam isn't with your b/f anymore. The moments where they woudl have typically shared a laugh were a perfect way to keep their relationship element in the show despite them not interacting at all in the episode.

What a great way to start the new season.. the show just got better. Dwight and Michael calling about the gaydar was hilarious.

Dwight is one of the best characters on TV since Seinfeld.

I think the funniest part was when Stanley was talking about the toaster.

I could not stop laughing!

I was in tears laughing through the meeting where Michael embraced, and then painfully kissed Oscar. Just when I think I couldn't laugh any harder, Dwight jumps up and tries the same thing. Unbelievable.

Ed Helms' appearance as the crazy co-worker of Jim's was a nice surprise.

As far as the whole Jim/Pam thing, I don't want to see the show focus too much energy on that, just keep it a side story. I'm actually cheering for Roy, who's certainly shown himself as a sympathetic character (unlike his counterpart from the British show).

I liked how they handled the Jim/Pam thing. I was worried they were going to focus the whole show on that, but I'm glad The Office went back to being its hiliarious self. I'm laughed a lot at the very beginning when Dwight was pretending to cry about Jim being gone. Dwight copying Michael on kissing Oscar was hilarious as well.

I think the season will unfold as follows: Jim will get tired of his new co-workers not having fun or joking around at work and won't really fit in with them. Then he'll decide to go back to the Scranton branch where things with Pam can return to their flirty nature now that Roy is out of the picture. Since Pam still feels bad about what happened to Roy though she still won't be able to get together with Jim and they'll return to that whole "are they/aren't they" thing. At least that's how I hope it unfolds. The show would lose something, imo, if Pam and Jim did get together -- I like that flirty, joking dynamic between them.

Glad to see the show is still hilarious though.

Great episode - so many moments:
- Dwight "vouching" for Angela being straight
- Kevin's giggling and immaturity about the whole gay thing
- Toby's hopelessly trying to get Michael not to "out" Oscar
- Michael's telling Jan that "she should know" what his sexual orientation is
- Jim's new nickname Big Tuna
- calculator in Jello and subsequent freak out
- Roy's mug shot

And at the end of the episode when Jim sends Dwight a metal detector with gaydar written on the side of it and he uses it on Oscar. I was killing myself laughing.

Not to mention Creed talking about all the women he slept with in the 70s and a man could have slipped in there without him realizing it.

Any of you guys fans of the original?

I got into the BBC version in 2003, don't care for the American version.

Opposite for me. I've watched the entire BBC series twice. Still don't like it nearly enough as the NBC version.

I love both, they are both brilliant in very different ways.

My British co-worker hates the American show. He says it's like a 5 year old that doesn't get the joke, but laughs hysterically so that every one around him thinks he got it.

I don't know, I enjoy both shows.
