Flames Dad's Trip Underway

Man, can you imagine the pride a dad must feel having a son in the NHL? I can't even imagine.

Well, last year they got away jerseys and the year before that the new thirds, so makes sense they would give them something different this year.

I think they've given them all the other versions in recent seasons, so this is the only one they haven't given the dads.

I couldn't find any photos from previous years, but I'm sure they've probably done the regular reds before.


Also, they do wear the retros once per season on Retro Night (which is supposed to be the Ottawa game in a couple of weeks).

In a twist of weird timing I actually went through airport security sandwiched between the Flames and their dads on Wednesday. Johnny and his dad were behind me, Bennett and his dad were in front of me. Had a brief chat with Guy Gaudreau. Nice guy.

Looking forward to attending the game in AZ Friday night. Should be lots of Flames fans present.

I normally am never star struck and pay no attention to celebrities, but I would have acted like an excited little schoolboy there haha.

I just noticed those are all replicas. Looks like the price of oil affects everything - can't even spring to give the dads real jerseys this year.

The family has repeatedly said that he is always referred to as John. Johnny is a fan/media creation.

The schedule that was sent out with the Season Ticket package has the Ottawa game listed as Retro Night.
