Seemed like a lot of Flames fans got tickets for the game as you could see Flames red splattered around the bowls as well as pretty loud applause when they scored.

Backlund quietly posts a goal and 2 assists putting him at 24 pts in 51 games. 14 points back from his career high.
Not all that impressive but I don't think that tells the whole story.
Backlund is starting to round out as a quality 3rd line guy that can play 2nd line minutes in a crunch. One of our best penalty killers and can contribute offensively.
If the Flames decide to keep him in the fold, I think he becomes our next Matt Stajan type.
At his price tag of 3.5M, he's cheaper than Stajan too.
Point is, I'm thinking it would be wise to keep Backs in the fold long term to be our steady, own zone Defensive center who can chip in offensively up the ice.
More valuable than a 2nd rounder if traded. I for one, earlier in the season was saying he needs to be moved, but he is really changing my opinion back to how I used to feel about him.
Great game from him last night. #unsung

Went to my first NHL game last night. Wow, what a sh*tty fan base the Canucks have.
Luckily I ended up in a section with most of my Flames brethren. We got a "Go Flames Go" chant going. Loved seeing the Canucks fans leaving after the Flames second goal. It was a beautiful sight.
Can't wait to go again.

I normally don't mind Mike Johnson, but he sounded like an ass last night. Especially when he was rambling on about Gaudreau's shot, saying he scored most of his goals from <13 ft because ''it's not that strong''. I know Johnny doesn't have the biggest bomb, but it's just as accurate as Monahan's. And maybe he doesn't score that many from 13 feet out, because he's not scared to take it to the net. GMG hearing him go on about that last night.
We can lose every other game of the season and I wouldn't be upset, but for the love of God we still better beat the Canucks and Oilers. Tonight we did that, and as an added bonus watched Edmonton AND Toronto get spanked.
Excellent Hockey Day in Canada.
Yep, a good night on balance.
Like a reassuring hug from a loved one in the darkest of times, beating Vancouver on their own ice and witnessing Edmonton lose acts as a gentle reminder from the hockey heavens that, well, everything's going to be just fine. Just, just fine.
I can't wait to for Santa to jive me a jift next Christmas.

I was at the game tonight and what shocked me was how many Calgary fans were in attendance. Several times, the chant of "Go Flames Go" was way louder than anything the Canuck fans could muster and that made me happy. But the abundance of Flames fans, while more than in previous years, and clearly not because of the Flames play this year, it must be because of the economy and that makes me sad. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm also about 6 pints and two bourbons in so who knows.
I thought I heard that a couple of times, but couldn't be positive - mentioned it to my wife who didn't agree (that's a surprise?). Nice to hear. I was a STH at the Dome for many years and put up with WAY too many Greaser and 'Nuck fans trying to out-chant us...
Lotsa red in the stands, too. One of these days when I'm in Vancouver at the right time I'll go.

He kept saying 60mph isn't hard, but the shots were all wristers. Whats a hard wrist shot measure at these days?
