Hudler upped his value. Could be worse.

Not making any excuses for the team but the Saddledome ice is really really bad.

That being said, this does not look like a team that's confident they can get on a run and get back into the playoff picture.

At home, with some rest against the 30th place team that's played 3 games in 4 nights, tied 1-1 going into the third and they get absolutely dominated to start the period. It's extremely frustrating stuff to watch.

Ramo has looked very good though and hopefully a team wants him at the deadline or sooner, because without him we won't win another game this year. I'll be shocked if we don't pick top 5 in the draft

Best result in a way, Hudler gets a goal and helps his trade value and we get a 4 pointer in the lottery race.

This is starting to feel similar to the year where we had some bad luck and ended up drafting 4th overall and getting Bennett. Couple diff results that year and we would have been in the Dal Colle/Virtanen/etc range, yikes.

We really would be nicely topped off by a 1st line talent or top pairing d-man this draft. So its hard to get too upset about these types of games for me. Some people were worried about management not selling some assets at the deadline but I don't see any other choice for them really.

Truth. Brodie seemed a half beat slow on decisions and stick plays tonight. He's definitely still feeling it and really should give it some time.

That result sucked. I thought the Flames carried the play for the most part. But it came down to a crappy give away by Hamilton and the Flames just couldn't get another. Sucks losing to the worst team in the league *sigh*. At least Hudler is getting his trade value up.

Smid has been good this year but David Jones has basically been huge garbage since right after his good start to this season, regardless of salary.

can someone explain to me why Brodie is on the bench for the last 1.5-2 minutes of every loss when we are desperate to tie the game

Goals aren't everything. He hasn't scored in a while, yes, but he's been effectively physical, and he played a good game tonight.

Didn't Ramo make a save on a breakaway with about 5 minutes left?

This is not a good team right now, I literally feel like they played well tonight and that was the best they could muster. They look like a bottom 5 team in year 2 of a rebuild which makes sense I guess.

Garbage. We've got a lot of skaters who word hard every night, but not enough of them are producing. Fed up of the same players putting up a big fat zero in the points column every night.

Backlund just isn't good enough, I'm sorry. Yeah yeah, skates hard and makes the odd thing happen, but he is our 2nd line centre and has 5 goals. Thats awful. Get Bennett to centre already, he has more scoring ability in his little finger than Backlund has in his entire body. Forward lines bar the top one need a massive shake up, send Granlund down and call up Grant, give him some time at centre.

I am seriously concerned about our general play at the moment. Unless a team mails it in against us(Panthers and Hurricanes), we don't seem to have it in us to outwork teams anymore. I want Kris Russell off this team by the start of next season. Unless the Flames are signing him on a vastly reduced contract and are planning on playing him as a bottom pairing defencemen, he needs to be got rid of. Mediocre hockey player who seems to have one skill in his locker, blocking shots. After that, what is he good at? Not very much I don't think. I am seriously worried that the management are planning on giving him a contract and role next season that vastly over-exaggerates his actual talent.

Only players that can say they had a good night were the top forward line, top defensive pair and Ramo. Everyone else was abysmal.

Winnable game lost by not playing with partners, sloppiness and poor support. Too many guys trying to do it by themselves (Johnny!!), lousy positioning (Gio and Ham on the points), poor decisions at the blue line (how many turnovers can one team make?).

Just. So. Disappointing.

Sure, apart from that brutal turnover he committed that sent Boone Jenner in on Ramo, he was okay. Guess I just expected him to be a bit better than a 4th line calibre forward at this point, but then again he's got some miles on him...
