I was under the impression that Panarin is going to win the Calder

Add in Huberdeau and you're laughing. Kulikov is simply a throw in at that point.
Yeah, FLA is stacked with young NHL talent.

Add in the fact they have Reilly Smith who is 24 (40-50 point 20+ goal scorer), and Gudbranson who is 24 and a solid top4 defensive Dman, and it was actually hard to narrow down their 25 and under core to just 5 players.

I don't think he should. First of all, he's 6 years older than Both Larkin and Eichel. That should count for something. Next, he's playing with Kane, and Patrick Kane has been ridiculous this year with 74 points. Panarin has 47 points, which leads rookies at a decent clip, but it's like when Anson Carter played with the Sedins, he's bound to put up a fair amount of points. Yes, he's good, but he's not the huge difference maker that someone like Larkin is to his team. Larkin is tied for the team lead in points with Zetterberg. It's not as much as Panarin, but he has much less to work with on a team that doesn't have that pure point producer (Detroit is 24th in goals compared to Chicago who is 3rd). Panarin has 12 power play points, and Larkin has 2. Plus, Larkin is +23 and has been really high in that category all year long. The next closest player on the Red Wings is Datsyuk at +12. When you're double Datsyuk in plus/minus, you're exceptional. Panarin is only +7, which ranks him 9th on the Hawks.

So yeah, if you only look at points, Panarin should win, but if you analyze a little Larkin should be the guy.

Pretty funny that the Oilers have been rebuilding for years and arguably CGY, FLA, and BUF have done better at shorter rebuilds. McDavid is a franchise changer for them but they've done abysmal at developing goalies and defensemen.

FLA has pretty much been building for just as long as EDM

If not longer.

Ristolainen is as good if not better then Ekblad.

5 player groups would be:

Buffalo
Edmonton
Calgary
Florida
Colorado
Phoenix
Columbus
Carolina

In my opinion.

Mcdavid is the key in this poll for me.

Mcdavid, draisatl, nurse/hall are tops I think.

Flames aren't far behind especially when you look at high end depth.

Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, brodie

If old were new.. and we were all on the same page in this day and age-

I would pick:

Bryan Trottier, Johnny Hockey, Mike Bossy, TJ Brodie and Paul Coffey- and for a goalie- Ken Dryden. This would be my ultimate core.

Kane and Toews have three Stanley Cups. No brainer for me.

Gaudreau/Monahan/Bennett would be my second choice but if the Edmonton group was different I might take McDavid/Hall/Draisaitl 2nd. I hate Edmonton but McDavid is just too good to pass up.
