Default Feb 4 practice - Wideman at practice raises suspicions of media

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Dennis Wideman makes an appearance at #Flames practice this morning.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
By the way, Wideman is allowed to practice with the team during the suspension. So not crazy to see him out there today. #Flames

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Brodie not on the ice this morning. Left last night’s game with a lower body injury. Giordano also absent today. #Flames

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames forwards Brandon Bollig and Markus Granlund wearing green today, a hint Hartley will stick with same forward lines against CBJ.

Fingers were crossed to see Brodie at least taking limited reps. Not there at all spells at least a few games out. Bruise or worse.

Great opportunity to do a bit of evaluation on the organization's defensive depth. Hope Brodie isn't out for too long.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
#Flames lines status quo: Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler; Bennett-Backund-Frolik; Bouma-Colborne-Jooris; Ferland-Stajan-Jones

looks like Wideman at practice will draw some cynicism

Eric Francis @EricFrancis
The plot thickens as Wideman is on the ice, practicing with the Flames at full speed. Guess he's healed from his concussion

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
Seeing #Flames D Dennis Wideman on ice today is an interesting wrinkle, since health issues (concussion) was part of his defence.

That's pretty ######y tbh. He said he is fine. He's said that multiple times after the game. His argument was directly after the hit he was a bit out of it...not "i'm injured permanently"

Wow Francis really taking a lot of runs at Wideman over this. Wideman may suplex him through a table.

Concussions heal, but there should be a graduated return to full sport/activity.

Hopefully the Flames are following protocol.

Keep on guessing Eric Francis, you've managed to make a career out of it.

Jesus ... do these guys ask themselves what has to happen in order for this to be suspicious?

Flames fake Wideman injury to avoid a suspension, then the day after losing the hearing, they walk the faked injury guy that can't play until St. Patrick's Day on to the ice risking their reputation and image with the league so that the guy that's out 6 weeks is fresh?

???

(I agree that putting him on the ice creates issues optically, but ...)

Normal jersey, full-contact.

It's like the concept of optics do not register with Wideman or anyone within the Flames.

I agree. He sustained the injury last Wednesday. It's been 8 days since he last skated unless I've missed something. More than enough time to recover from a slight concussion. Dear me, some people really are looking to sink the Flames and Wideman over this.

Seriously what did Calgary sports fans do to deserve having Eric Francis forced down our throats by the Sun and RSN? Why do they continue to troll us? Does his mother really have this much power?

Dont ask that. Never ask that. Erik's avatars get worse, not better.

No kidding. Francis has never been good or even tolerable. His bits on the Fan 960 with Rob Kerr are cringe inducing.

You mean the sessions that he (i.e. the restaurant he owns) sponsors himself?
