The Blues make it work.

the logos are 2 different colors of blue tho. changing the shade of red isn't nearly as effective. there is nothing at all wrong with having a different color logo at home and on the road. he Leafs have been doing it for a while and their logos are iconic. iirc the Canucks do as well.

I think that for the casual fan, the third jersey is actually a more wearable jersey. The Reebok jersey (IMHO) does not look great without the hockey pants...
Both of my kids prefer the third jersey.

further to the Blues jersey discussion, has anyone ever looked at home Flames home and road jerseys would look with the red C on both or the white C on both, but changing up the stitching around it based on background?
Red C on both, but with white stitching to border it on the red jersey, and red stitching to border it on the white one
Same with the white C?
That would be kind of cool I think, especially the white jersey with the white C in my mind.

What's the difference between a shade of a colour and a different colour?
Royal blue and navy blue are different shades of blue, no?

Different shades of red would be either burgundy or pink and both of those are nasty colours.

Not really, I think they could pull off a darker shade of red for the logo without using burgundy.
I'd at least like to see a mock up of it, if someone has time to kill.

Actually I don't mind it, not saying it's my favourite concept every but I don't mind it. Might prefer the white C on the white jersey version better though.

Here's a couple I did a few years ago, trying to come up with an idea for a two tone red version...
The dark red tends to look maroon against the lighter red.

Need to incorporate more tan, like those beautiful tan pants from the Heritage Classic. They looked so good on that and College teams use it well.

I would say try using the dark red for the logo, and the light red for the jersey. And go a couple shades lighter on both reds.
edit:
I'd suggest these two shades of red.

Something simple like BC's yellow set. Especially the single color lettering, classic font:

Ya I don't think so lol
These 2 jerseys are the SAME price at all the major retailers. Ie jersey city, sport check, Pro hockey life, Champs etc.
Walmart has NEVER sold the 3rd jersey

Bottom line is that I hope that all black is removed. It is all that I ask.
Does anyone know why black was added in 1995 in the first place?

It was 1995. Everyone was adding black to their logos in the 90s.

We just should be happy we didn't have to wear 3rd jerseys designed by the guy who did these Islanders jerseys...

What do you all think of these?
With TO's logo redesign coming out last night, I decided to see where this thread was at - some interesting posts lately.
Like some of you, I would very much like to return to the classic look of the Flames, but not exactly the 80's jersey's per se - they look a little too much like pajama's to me - especially the red/red/red/red combo with helmet/jersey/pants/socks - hell even the gloves were red - too much like a giant blood clot. Also - I think the majority of us don't like the current piping and usage of flags on the shoulders. Also - although I don't like the current over-use of black, I think it's a good contrast or outlining color with our classic red/yellow/white colors. Also - while not a huge fan of our new 3rd jersey - the new alternate round logo is pretty great. So I went over to icethetics to see what was new and found these which, while I have a few quibbles with, would look pretty great I think:
What do you all think?
