Holy crap...

Not without makeup, but still a striking resemblance.

I think people would be even more offended by him being played by a white woman than a white man.

I was thinking of this.

Anyway, Cate Blanchett played Bob Dylan in "I'm Not There" so at least that partially sets a precedence.

Yeah, but she wasn't portraying a black person.
That's not me personally feeling one way or the other. Truly I don't. But its why it'll be an issue.

But it really depends on what part of his life they are portraying. No one can say that MJ was black from like 1990 and on. If you had a black person playing him at that point, in white person make-up, wouldn't it be the same as the reverse?

Wait... that already happened...

Don't know if anyone saw the headlines but 5 of the 9 individual acting awards at the Screen Actors Guild awards went to black actors. Two of them to Idris Elba.
Nominations have been out for a while but I'm willing to bet all the diversity talk hit home.

Only one of those was for a motion picture. Four were for tv shows.

Other than Elba, the movie nominations for the SAG Awards were as lily white as the Oscars.

Elba's lack of a nomination probably had more to do with the fact that his movie was distributed by Netflix rather than one of the major studios than it had to do with his race. The Oscars are notorious for protecting the interests of the big studios.

Yeah, it's almost as if there's cultural and historical context that contributes to the discourse surrounding the matter. Weird, huh?

White Chicks was harmful to everyone. IIRC a full two hour exposure to it cause hemorroids, decrease blood pressure and possibly death.
It was adopted by the State of Texas as a method of execution and was used until the Supreme Court ruled it to be an overly cruel and malicious method of execution.

Only if it's against white people according to rubecube. Because you know all white people are the same and have the same backgrounds. We were all slavers and colonists and none of us were ever persecuted minority groups from Europe or anything. We asked for it pretty much if you ask the SJW crowd.

That's a lovely little strawman you've constructed.

I can't really argue with any of that.
