How about part of the reason? Can guns be part of the reason? Does it have to be just one reason?

It's a combination Azure. God, the whole "it's mental health" line is so tiring and rude. You know what? If one single damn American Politian said "We need to do better with mental health, that's the real problem, and here's what I'm proposing, here's what we need to do as a country to address mental health in this country", after a shooting, then they'd maybe have my ears.
Instead of "We need to do a better job of addressing mental health, so stop talking about guns", It's repulsive.

No, for sure, guns are not involved in the least with shootings.

And those are all things he has been fighting for his entire political career, and yet every one of those issues are not popular within the Democrat or Republican parties. Hillary actually screamed and yelled at a rally the other day that the single payer system would never exist in the States. Almost right after big health care gave her $13 million in donations.
I think you're being extremely naive if you think Sanders is no different from any other politician. He is NOT accepting corporate money. That alone makes him a LOT different.
But keep sticking your head in the sand.

Sanders represents the most liberal state in the U.S. That's his constituency, a state that invented civil unions, pushed for universal healthcare and strong labour laws, none of these positions are a political risk in the people's republic of Vermont (their nickname not mine) but gun control is.
Is he a left winger, of course, but he's also a political realist, just like Obama was.

Also, can we stop with the idiotic meme that every shooter is mentally disabled or mentally ill in some way? A bunch probably are, but it's as if people think the only way you can pull a trigger is if you're insane. The San Bernadino shooters weren't.
Invented statistic that's almost certainly true: 99% of gun homicides are committed by the sane.

Clinton rally in Iowa January 29th. An estimated 200 people.
Sanders rally in Iowa January 30th. Estimates between 3800-4500 people.
While enthusiasm over a candidate is not everything, pictures like this must have the Clinton campaign sweating a bit.

You have to be somewhat ill or mentally deficient to fall for the crap the Jihadi groups believe. Otherwise we'd see a lot more people rallying behind their banner.

Shouldn't we have some kind of game day thread for the Iowa Caucus today, preferably being narrated by an old timey 40's sports beat reporter.

No, you absolutely do not. This is completely wrong.
The serious problem with bad ideas is that you can get otherwise perfectly normal, well adjusted people to believe them, and thereby make them do terrible things. Indoctrination doesn't work on the mentally ill or disabled alone - I'm not even sure it works better on them than the average person.

It has been estimated that the average IQ (historical estimations of intelligence are hazardous at best) of the Nazi High Command was in the top 0.5%. Similarly, the Al Queda leadership, and operatives, must have similarly high intelligence to be able to utilize simple, everyday technology in a series of global strikes against the most powerful nation in the world.
Never confuse intelligence for virtue.

The Clinton rally looks like it was held in a hallway.

It looks like they booked a much bigger hall, and then had to curtain it off.
I think that Hillary has run a pretty horrible campaign. It speaks to the strength of her opposition that she's still in the lead.

What would have made that picture awesome by the way, is if during the rally, the girls volley ball team started practicing right behind the crowd.

I have to question that Clinton rally picture, hard to believe she would only draw a crowd that small. It could be legit but usually when I see something that odd I get suspicious.

Every poll I have seen put them pretty much neck and neck. Amazing, considering her MASSIVE fund-raising advantage.

Not to mention when you look at the two pictures it's pretty obvious they made it look even smaller than it allegedly already was. Look at the way it's zoomed and how many people are standing across, the photo's made to look ridiculously skinny, even if it was already so to a certain extent.
