Anywas I realize I'm in the minority on this. I'm glad it worked out but I personally didn't enjoy his participation. I don't enjoy seeing players let up. For me sports is about playing the game the right way. Scott was given treatment not disimilar to letting a toddler score a goal against his dad. Even in an ASG I thought that was silly.

But I know I'm in the minority on this one. So I'll move on and just hope this is the last of it. I'm happy people enjoyed his participation because that's what sports is about - having a fun. I didn't like it - but I know when I'm fighting a losing battle.
Yeah I didn't want to be "that guy" ... but its kind of pitiful that this is what it is. Kind of sad (to him) this is probably his swan song to his career.

I heard that the makers of "The Social Network" and "Steve Jobs... The Movie" are currently starting production on "The John Scott Story." This is great for the NHL!

Honestly Jiri, you've got enough salt going to make everyone on CP a margarita. "Treatment not disimilar to letting a toddler score a goal against his dad"? Jesus Christ. You really do have a blinding hatred for him, don't you?

I second this. Here's a guy, representative of the last of his breed, having the time of his life and feeling amazing, with a pregnant wife, winning a new car and some cash. Honestly, what is wrong with this? It's not like he's Sean Avery - he seems like a legitimately cool guy.

I don't think it's necessarily John Scott he hates, Jiri has just had the biggest animosity towards fighting and in particular those that made their career off fighting than almost anyone I've ever seen, lol.

Anytime fighting comes up, he enters the thread with a twenty foot axe!

I'll admit that Duchene gave him that breakaway, but let's not pretend that was the first time in All Star game history that someone put in a weak defensive effort.

Other than that, I don't think anyone was really going easy on him. Definitely not to the point that it was "like letting a toddler score".

Sure whatever floats your boat. As usual you have a hard time with anyone with an opinion different from your own and choose to lash out and attack the person not the opinion. Fill your boots.

I will fully admit that I really don't care for John Scott (the player) and it bothers me he somehow got all this recognition. Hell Leo Komarov is a great underrated role player actually worthy of the kind of recognition Scott got.

The All-Star game is supposed to be a fun sideshow, he made it the funnest and sideshowiest fun sideshow it ever could have been.

It worked out perfectly for the league, the players, the fans, the pocketbook and Scott himself what more could anyone ask for?

Case. Closed.

I don't think it's your opinion that is riling people up, it's the vitriol you seem to have towards the guy. Don't forget the league created the role this guy filled, whether you like the existence of it or not. This guy had no intention of doing what he did, but like any guy who ever played the game, he was given a chance to live the dream in one way shape or form, and grasped on to it, like any red blooded Canadian guy would have.

Whether or not you agree or not, it was a very cool human interest story, and a kinda sad one at the same time. Who knew lumbering John Scott, is more educated than you, me and 90% of the members on this board? Who knew, the players, even from teams he terrorized, still think he's a great guy?

He really is the last of his species, so you should be overjoyed this is probably it for him and his kind.

I fail to see how he is attacking you as a person; rather, he's attacking your hate of enforcers in general, including John Scott.

Duchene treated that breakaway pretty much the same way every other breakaway in the history of the ASG has been treated.

Both of Scott's goals were completely legitimate, as far as all star game goals are.

I don't think Scott was the best player in the game, but there was no one player head and shoulders above the rest. A number of pacific division players could have been the MVP, but Scott wasn't really a bad choice.

it's too bad that is your perspective because this is a great sports story that you could otherwise be enjoying.

If this stuff bothers you, I genuinely feel bad for you. For such a minuscule event in the grand scheme of all things that is life to have such an effect on you is truly pathetic. I don't mean that insultingly.

Yea you're right, I got the wrong breakaway. It was the one after he hit Kane that the backchecker was floating. Probably too busy laughing at the hit.

John Scott for MVP!
Really enjoyed watching the games, but best part so far without a doubt is the performance by the big guy! #NHLAllstar

That first tweet is a pretty great indicator of how much fun other NHLers had with the John Scott story.

It wasn't John Scott's fault he got voted in by the fans... hell anyone would be stupid not to accept an invitation to the All star game... and have a chance to win a million dollars. Don't hate the player, hate the game (voting system).
