still though good for him

Best ASG I have watched period.

Awesome weekend overall and I usually hate/skip the all star game.

Hell, the early resentment from fans about him wasting a spot that a kid like Domi should've gotten would've likely been the prevailing sentiment. Instead he turns into this massive underdog story, partly due to the league's handling of it, the way he was traded and just the way he carried himself through it all... then he even manages to have a halfway decent couple of games 3 on 3 and he's an easy MVP pick.

The Marketing department must be having an orgy right now
Fully agree, Montreal/NHL could jump on the PR train of this if they called him up.

The NHL store seriously needs to restock the John Scott All Star shirts. I want one.

I was 100% opposed to Scott's participation. Happy to say I was wrong. He made the event a lot of fun and gave it some personality. Turns into a pretty cool story.

He needed one more goal to complete the Gordie Howe hat trick.

Soooo, tell me again how he was going to get embarrassed? Tell me again how the players didn't want him there? Tell me again how this damages the all star game in the future?

This is likely the last time we see John Scott in the NHL, but what a way to end it. Goons(and I mean that in a nice way) don't get the glory, ever. So its nice to see one of the last goons get a bit of recognition. They are a dying breed, a fitting swansong I feel. A lovely one off that hopefully doesn't happen again, because it would lose its impact if it happened every year. I was and am all far Scott being there, but lets make sure the loophole gets closed off now.

He needed one more goal for a real hat trick, and an assist for a Gordie.

Too bad Healy ruined Scott's first goal by critiquing it and telling us how he shot it wide and prior to the goal almost put his team offside.

Fire the guy already Sportsnet!

I think Montreal needs to give a Scott a couple games with the team. They are a dumpster fire right now anyways so maybe bringing up Scott will fire them up and bring the team to life. They can't really get any worse.

At 33 years old and obviously buried in the minors for a team with no chance at the cup, I wouldn't blame him if he woke up tomorrow and announced his retirement. It's unlikely anything tops this and why not go out on your achievable top?

He is a well educated man with a degree and a family that is about to double. Toiling in the minors isn't the only way he can earn a living.

Awesome for him.

Breakaway goal reminded me, just because it's a big guy and enforcer, of Oliwa scoring vs the Oilers (with a sweet move) in 2003.

Well may be the end of the road for his NHL career, but great way to go out. Handled it as well as he could all weekend, and played a solid game, not liking blatantly out of place. As has been mentioned, enforcer or not, you need a minimum set of physical ability to see the NHL for 1 game, let alone parts of 6 or so seasons.

As said in the other thread, hope the Habs and Coyotes miss the playoffs for the way they handled this, orchestrating a sham trade just for Arizona to save face.

Strangely, what started as a troll turned out to be the best possible outcome.

Phoenix explained all the context behind the trade. Please prove it was a sham
