WTF? I watched the Ducks Vs Coyotes game on my PS4 GCL with no blackout the other day. Ducks should be blacked out for my region.

There are blackouts, but it appears they are inconsistent? Very odd indeed.

My first blackout tonight - Blues vs Oilers, blacked out in Calgary.

I didn't think it would happen after last season.

I subscribe to Shaw incl Sportsnet so I can watch on TV, though why would I want to watch that Oilers dumpster fire?

Hola opens it up though.

ETA: weird. Works fine on the App (Android and Blackberry separately) without IP blocker on. Just blacked out on PC.

It's blacked out on my PS3 as well. I thought there were no blackouts in Alberta?

Got the Oilers game by using unblock-us. You guys using the Rogers version should look into something like this.

Tonight's game is blacked out for me on GCL.

National games are waived in terms of the blackouts, but regional games are blacked out unless you are a Telus Optik or Rogers customer.

So once again, the game on Friday night I watched the TSN feed and there the quality was impeccable. One hiccup all game, but otherwise HD and clear. The Sportsnet cameras really are horrible.

I don't know if its just me and got lucky. I am blacked out of all regional Flames games on all of my devices except for my phone. the GCL app on my phone plays all of Flames games, all of the time. Has anyone else tried watching GCL on their phone? Are you getting blacked out?

Bump - I am wanting to cancel my cable but only if I am still able to watch the Flames. Is this possible? A quick look on Gamecenter / Center Ice shows that only out of market games and national games are shown. Am I out of luck?

With a service such as unblock.us you can change your location. It'll cost you a few bucks a month, but it's worked great for me.

I believe there is going to be a $25 basic cable subscriptions coming out this spring.

Quote:
“Today’s decision reflects what we have heard from Canadians. More and more Canadians are watching the content they want when they want and on the multiple devices they choose,” CRTC chair Jean-Pierre Blais told reporters. “By March 2016 Canadians will have access to an entry level television service that costs no more than $25 a month.”
Last spring, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission launched the Let’s Talk TV hearings during which members of the public and broadcast distributors laid out their ideas for confronting the changing television landscape.
With "Pick and Pay" you may be able to add SNW for a reasonable price or not.

Quote:
Come March 2016, providers will have to offer the “skinny basic” service and allow subscribers to augment that either through pick-and-pay or “small, reasonably” priced packages.

Not really. It'll play out exactly like the CRTC ruling against 3 year contracts went.

The cable/sat companies will give a big FU to both the CRTC and customers. The small fraction of people who only want basic cable will get their $25 package, and the loss of revenue between that and people cutting cable will be paid by the customers who only want HBO or TSN.

I would be absolutely shocked if a customer would actually be able to get a basic package with SN/TSN (or HBO) for significantly less than the package with that costs now. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if that selection actually costs more than the package does now.

Gamecentre rebrands as NHL.TV for the games on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to seeing if there's an upgrade to what they're currently offering. I'm actually pretty happy with the service as is.

It can't get any worse for me. Spend more time looking at loading screens than watching the games.

Today was brutal. I don't know if my internet was on the fritz or if Gamecentre just wasn't working properly, but I was able to watch maybe half of the game.
