only person who needs to be suspended is whomever let him continue playing
|
If he can barely stay on his feet:
a) how does he skate to the bench without tripping
b) how could he hit henderson, 6'0", with enough force to knock him over, without
c) falling over

I would like to see a reverse angle to see if Wideman saw the linesman.

Well if the NHL doesn't suspend him, I hope our medical staff does!

Not premeditated, the result of being dazed and not thinking straight but still a movement with an intention to hit and still responsible for it.

It looks bad when you watch the video. However it was hard to tell if the contact was intentional or not. It's a shame we don't have another angle to view.

You can tell by Wideman's body language that he's just trying to get off. He doesn't react after he downs the linesman because he was on autopilot going straight to the bench. If it was a 'frustration' thing he would've shown some reaction to nailing the guy in the back. But he skates off like nothing happened..=autopilot brainfart.
This coming from a poster that wants to see him out of the lineup.

He looked clearly concussed.

Hit a Ref woozy or not, the hit was intentional... the direction to whom it may be intended for is irrelevant.
The NHL will not let this slide. The degree of punishment is what is in question IMO.

Actually now that I see it, its even more serious then I thought. I say its grounds for terminating his contract.

Classic example of a player being frustrated/angry after getting hit hard. I 100% believe that was intentional. Wideman should be suspended.

He looked to be woozy after the hit and I wonder in his effort to get of the ice as quickly as possible if he did indeed see the ref.

It seems so hard to argue that he was so "dazed", "concussed" "had his bell rung" that he had no idea what he was doing, but stays in the game after a few gulps of water.
He did not accidentally bump into him. Only argument is that he was disoriented. Which sure makes the training staff look bad.

I know you're joking, but this is 30 games max, likely 20-25.
