Actually, for all those "milk makes you fat" people, milk helps to boost your metabolism.
I, myself, drink at least 1 glass of homogenized per day. I drink it because that's what we have for the kids and I'm not buying multiple kinds of milk. We go through at least three 4L jugs a week.
And also, even if there was a difference in flavour, there is no way in hell I'm paying close to $1 more for a 4L of Dairyland.

Reason: and no, I'm not fat.
We make our kids (teen and pre-teen) drink a glass of milk everyday at breakfast.
On an aside, I have noticed some Indian (or maybe Pakistani) folks buy upwards of 20 gallon jugs of milk at the time at our local walmart, I mean cart-fulls of milk. Always intrigued me why they would need so much milk.
Another aside, the strawberry and banana flavored milk-to-go are beyond awesome.

What's so hard about buying two kinds of milk? My wife and I drink skim and my kids drink 2%. The four of us go through 16 liters per week (8 skim and 8 2%). It's literally no extra work to buy different kinds.

Osteoporosis is the reason adults should either drink milk or a substitute that contains calcium (either naturally or supplemented).
Especially women.
Your bones are generally finished forming by the age of 18 which is why the recommendation for dairy products changes when you become an adult. Bone loss is an issue and calcium is required to maintain the bones you have.
Why am I replying to this in a thread about Sobeys?
Back on topic - I used to do 25% of my grocery shopping at the Sobeys in Lakeview (not close to home but easiest shopping experience - store was never busy). Haven't been back since it changed to an IGA. Has anyone gone since the changeover?
ETA: just discovered IGA is licensed and supplied by Sobeys... and give air miles. Looks like it's a Sobeys in all but name?

There's no real reason humans should be drinking cow's milk, kids or adults. We do so because it was once thought to be beneficial and thanks to the continued barrage of Milk at School programs, milk does your body good advertisements, etc., people still think it's super awesome for them. Any person with any decent "Google foo" can find out pretty quickly that it's not all it's hyped up to be.
As far as children go, a well balanced diet full of veggies, nuts, and the like will produce far higher amounts of calcium and the vitamins found in milk. There might be an argument made for poorer families that milk is better than nothing, but given the high number of humans who have lactose intolerance (many who probably don't even realize it, they just live with the farting and bloating), it's still probably not worth it.

With that much milk I would bet money that they have either a store or a restaurant. Milk is always sold below cost so smaller operations will go to grocery stores or Shoppers Drug Mart stores to buy it there and resell it or use it at their restaurant.

My bet is they run a day home. I ran into the lady who manages the daycare my kids go to one day in a Superstore. Her and her husband both had carts full of 4L jugs.
I don't drink milk beyond cereal and this thread is making me feel very abnormal.

Because I don't want 2 huge jugs of milk in my fridge.

Well, a counter-point to this argument is there is ample genetic evidence that many groups of European descent (or many other ethnic groups that depended on dairy) have adapted to milk consumption due to a mutation that continues lactase activity into adulthood.
If your body continues to produce the lactase enzyme in sufficient amounts into adulthood, it is quite possible you wouldn't even be here today if your ancestors had not adapted to milk as an alternative food source.
I am personally deficient in both the enzymes to digest milk (lactase) AND alcohol (acetaldehyde dehydrogenase) so I can't readily enjoy a bowl of cereal or Bowmore 15 (as recommended by another poster in this thread). I couldn't even put Whiskey in my corn flakes if I got laid off.

Valid points for sure, thanks for adding this.
Curious, what kind of reactions would you get by drinking alcohol?

They make their own yogurt, and other dishes such as rice pudding.

Alcohol: Excessive build-up of acetaldehyde in my bloodstream leading to nausea, redness, itchy skin, migraines, and discomfort to the point where I once contemplated jumping off a roof to avoid the pain.
Milk: Similar to food poisoning. Upset stomach, unwanted bowel movements, flatulence, incomplete digestion, nausea, headaches.
I have to be extremely careful about both. I can have them in small amounts like coffee in my cream, eating cheese, and half a dram of Whiskey sipped over 3 hours.

OK, I think we found your problem, the cream goes in the coffee!
I know, I know...
