I doubt people are drinking a cup of milk like you're envisioning, Jay. I think they mean they use it, ie for lattes, coffee, etc.

I highly doubt there are adults "drinking" milk like a toddler would drink a litteral cup of milk.... I hope!

I guess I'm a toddler

I drink milk - and drink it a lot. In cereal, yes, but I'll definitely have a good sized glass or two. I often drink it at supper.

I drink 4L of chocolate milk roughly each week after reading it's a good recovery drink. Yes, I'm aware of all the conflicting viewpoints on it, but it's so darn delicious, I'll conveniently choose to believe in it lol. I pound back a pint a day each time after I finish working out.

I have at least a glass of milk every day. Is this not normal?

I can't tell if this is an insult, or a compliment. I'll take it as both.

Yeah, the whole "milk is a good recovery drink" ad campaign was genius. Not true but genius. I see you have your eyes open to it though so have at it. Personally, I like milk but I've been trying to ween myself off of it. It's hard when you have young kids and it's always in the fridge.

Off topic, but has anyone ever run into crazy bag boys who believe chocolate milk has no sugar and the sweetness comes from the naturally occurring calcium? No? Just me? Cool story bro?

I can also believe the different brands do taste different. Based on some conversations with guys that deal with dairy, this is often due to a slight difference in QC and regular storage of milk, sometimes a cow has a bad day, sometimes the delivery takes too long etc.

I am not sure if milk can be "reworked" but I know butter and ice cream can be reworked using lower quality and higher quality dairy to bring up the average (it's frozen first to kill bacteria and whatnot, but this affects taste. This is "fixed" by putting in higher quality cream for instance). Those who are sensitive to the taste may taste the "sourness" more easily than others. This is because of what milk as a natural product. It's harder to regulate how it ends up, so my understanding is that the basic rules are based on bacteria concentrations and whatnot post pasteurization.

I am not sure how the different brands do things differently. I just know it's very interesting to see a tanker truck filled with milk/cream.

I'd like to hear Sliver's thoughts on milk. For some reason I think they are probably highly entertaining.

In other chocolate milk news, For people who do not want to buy 4L jugs, WalMart sells 750 ml cartons of chocolate milk for a regular price of $1. From what I've seen it generally it is all gone by the afternoon.

When I asked a buddy who grew up in the UK what foods I should have his first response was milk. He was not wrong, it was delicious like the time I accidentally got homo milk instead of my normal choice of 1% -the UK milk was 1.25% and I can't tell any difference between 1 and 2% here-.

He did mention to try the chocolate there too so the next week I put 2 and 2 together and got the chocolate milk. It tasted like butt. My guess is that they don't jack it up with as much sugar as they do here.

Long story short you can tell the difference in milk, internationally

Lucerne 1% (**** 1/2)

This full-bodied Canadian white milk is a blend of Guernsey 45%, Holstein 25%, Braunvieh 25%, and Jersey 5%. Each varietal was fermented separately, with temperatures and pasteurization carefully managed to provide distinct, milky aromas and a vibrant white colour. After blending, the milk is aged for 6 days in charred French oak barriques. The final colour is a brilliant alabaster with ivory hints. Aromas of sweet hickory, vanilla spice, and smoke tickle all the senses. A long and persistent finish with polished tannins. Pairs nicely with cereal and cream of mushroom soup.

British milk is, traditionally, just pasteurized, not homogenized, as such it's heavy in milk fat, so much so that you get a layer of cream on the top of the bottle when you open it, which, as a kid, you steal if your mum isn't looking.
These days you get skimmed and semi skimmed milk that are their equivalent of 2% and skimmed here.

Just what everyone needs on a hot day. A nice warm cup of milk. Put me in the non-milk drinker category. Unless it is in my coffee/tea, cereal or ice cream no thanks.

a pint of 1% milk is like max 250 calories. So it's hardly killing your diet.

As is almost always the case, the problem there was not the food/beverage, but the person's complete inability to moderate.
