That's how I see it looking in the future. Still a few slots to fill.
We wont be going anywhere with ferland as our first line winger. Maybe replace him with one of the wingers we are probably gonna draft this year. Hopefully we can draft puljarvi and sign a fa winger like boadker maybe.
Gaudreu-bennet-puljarvi
Boadker-monohan-frolik
And u can interchange frolik and puljarvi depending on if u wanna stack one line or spread out scoring.

Monahan looks so off lately. Seems like his 2-way game is slipping and he's cheating for offence. Think him and Gaudreau should be split up.

Would like to see Gaudreau - Bennet - Hudler

If they fall out of it, the best thing for the team would be to win the 2nd overall to get their future 1st line RW in Puljujarvi. Would make the decision easy at least, and addresses our biggest need aside from goaltending - though we might have that answer in the system already.

Just watched the game now (very late) on PVR.

Absolutely infuriating.

I am 100% serious in saying this is what should have happened:

- Game should have been called off shortly into the first period

- Carolina concedes the game and surrenders 2 points for being unable to put forth an NHL ice surface

- Employees responsible for making that ice surface should be fired

- Executive responsible fined 1000s of dollars

- Carolina told they won't host another home game until they're able to provide an acceptable NHL ice surface

- Full refunds given to the 286 fans that were in attendance

To me, everything that happened after that is a non-starter. That was embarrassing watching two teams attempt to play a hockey / curling hybrid because the puck wouldn't slide on that joke of an ice surface or bounced all over like a ping pong ball.

I've seen better ice surfaces on outdoor rinks on humid spring days.

Just embarrassing and cringe-worthy to see that. What a complete waste of time seeing that in 2016 in a supposed professional arena for an NHL game.

agreed, i think having gaudreu carry the line for so long has hurt his development. He has been off since the vancouver series.

Just finished watching.

Terrible all the way around but with a few exceptions.

Colborne. Finally ans a good a complete game and the est of the team can't find their mojo. Go figure . O well.

Bouma . Had a lot of jump and pressured the defenders. It is one of the things the Flames have been missing in the first half.

Jooris. He has not had the scoring touch this year nor the jump but when he has he has been on the ice with Bouma. Seems the two feed off each others energy.

Jones. He is not flashy similiar to Frolik is. Jones skill set of being phycical and being the man to work to the puck out of tight spots is highlighted more when paired with being paired on a line with players like Gaudreau and Monahan. Thats what that line needs tho. Ferland and Jones have been able to provide the big physical winger those to need. In a way it is disappointing because Monahan is a big kid. Maybe we need to buy a dog for him just so someone can kick it just to get him being more physical. I don't advocate violence towards any animal that you can't eat but how can you be that big and not ise it.

I don't blame any of the goalies tonight at all.

Ramo could of had the first one but when you let Rask dance from side to side like that you don't have any time to really get set for the shot.

Thanks a lot for that penalty around the midway point of 3rd period David Jones. It cost us the game, we were only down by 1 and of
Course they score on the pp. should be a healthy scratch next game imo

The Flames were playing like #### way before the Jones penalty. That is not what cost them. Having a slow first is. Spending to much time in a road city will throw you off. Starts to feel like a vacation ratger then work.

I am not blaming Ramo for the loss, the rest of the team never showed up, but it seems he always needs a few games in a row to get his rhythm back after after any period without games.

Early in the season when we had the rotation he was horse manure, Hiller goes down, he gets a run of games and really looks good. Now he has a break, comes back in and seems to have lost his rhythm again, which will be hard to get back as Hartley will go straight back to Hiller.

This is the NHL. Goaltenders shouldn't need multiple games before they can start playing competently every time they get a short rest. All these stinkers coming off rest can be the difference between making and missing the playoffs. Ramo is hot garbage just like Hiller and the end of their careers in Flames colors can't come soon enough.

I HATE how this team is constantly in limbo. We're always a few wins away from a playoff spot and a few losses from a lottery pick. Just when I think we're closer to a playoff team-- we lose a bunch. Then, when I start getting interested about potentially drafting in the top 5-- they win a bunch to make playoffs seem possible.

I'm quite confident now that many people are down on the flames and expecting a lottery pick, they'll play well for a week or two and get themselves back in the playoff discussion. Book it.

Completely agree. Wins coming over Dallas & Nashville and they'll probably have a little OOT luck now too. By All Star Break the Flames will be a game back of 3rd. After the break will probably be a wild ride. So many games in such a short period of time. Buckle up.

it's a young roster, i think we have to deal with the ups & downs that come with that.

I'm glad the team isn't throwing it in, like we see how the oilers teams have managed their seasons the past few years, and the issue it has created in the culture there.

As the season gets longer, looks like the team is averaging out as a bottom 5-7 team. I think at this stage of the rebuild, that's fine. Flames cannot use last year as a strong indicator of where they are at. This year is clear in displaying that. Some more high end skill and a major upgrade in goaltending is absolutely required for this team to become more of a competitor.

Someone has to be on the hot seat for our horrendous special teams. They are losing so many games for us this season as well. Just terrible. I hope Treliving can move some of the dead weight off the team soon. I hope.
You are right, there quite a few games I have stopped watching for the same reason. They don't seem to care/are not putting their hearts into the game.

This has been a disappointing season. Too many players simply do not play strong enough and smart enough to compete for that 3rd spot. Gelinas based on the complete failure of the PP should be canned after this season.

Are they really in limbo? The are at the bottom of the standings. We should not let the fact that the current NHL points system lets teams stay close to a playoff spot deep into the season cloud the reality. Take away 3 on 3 overtime and this teams point totals look even worse.

This team is just not that good this season. The off season additions, (with no real subtractions) have failed to make the team any better. And they have been remarkably healthy.

Not advocating wholesale changes by any means but there certainly needs to be a plan for next year. No one in Stockton seems to be knocking the door down.

How exactly would we know this? The minor league team plays the same crappy system the big club does and it is beyond successful at any level. I think it is very hard to judge players right now because the systems are so bad that they don't allow players to shine. I think the only way we will know what we have is if the farm hands get a chance to come up and show what they have against our established players, playing under the same circumstances.

It's been touched on before but Wideman and Hudler went from being two of our best players to two of our worse and no one is picking up the slack. You're not going to be a good team when that happens.

Combine that with Hartley and the coaching staffs complete and utter incompetence and you have a recipe for a top 5 draft pick. Hopefully we get to see what this team is capable of under a different coach next season.

Official attendance last night was 9,934. I'd say actual attendance was closer to 3,000.
