Default Two Capitals games and one Islanders game rescheduled.

The big snowstorm in and around Washington DC area has postponed the ANA @ WSH game. The Capitals could even have their home game on Sunday against the Penguins postponed. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=799083&navid=nhl:topheads

Flames played in New Jersey back in the 80's when a huge snow storm rolled through there. No problems there since there weren't many Devils fans anyway during that time.

334 fans showed up that night. That's almost as many as were at the Columbus game last night.

Yeah in New Jersey

edit: or wait, I'm thinking of that historic one, but yes there was one a few years ago I seem to recall.

So I take it that the Flames are already in Carolina? No chance of cancelled flights?

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I think the game will be good to go, but it's going head to head (4:00 start time for flames game, 4:40 for football) against the NFC Championship game. I expect an extremely empty building.

Philly.

Most of the philly players live in Jersey so there was concern they may not be able to get to the game on time.

The 334 club...

Quote:
On Jan. 22, 1987, the New Jersey Devils were scheduled to play the Calgary Flames for a mid-season home game. The problem was, a vicious snow storm pounded the eastern seaboard from Georgia to New York.

Because the Flames were staying in a hotel across the street from the arena, they were all there on time, but it was the hometown Devils who were late. The referees in charge of the game wanted to start as soon as 14 Devils players showed up, but since this was a regular season game, the team wanted to have a full roster ready. So, as players trickled in, they hid in the medical and stick rooms.

The teams took multiple warmups, with the Devils shooting around with about six players. Eventually the game started. Amazingly, there were fans in attendance.

All 334 of them.
Quote:
It was so sparse, public relations staff members from the Devils went around and got the names and addresses of each individual spectator. The fans received a pin, t-shirt and tickets to the next Devils-Flames game, or the closest game to the one-year anniversary. On the 25th anniversary of the game, members of the exclusive “334 Club” were invited to a game and a private reception.

Snow started coming down at 1:00 in Fairfax VA and we're at 7.5 inches and counting. Most media outlets predicting at least 20 inches and as much as 36. Interesting to see if the Flames get stuck in Carolina or if they can get to Dallas.
