mlb.tv is amazing, i have it every year.

I wish Netflix would bid for the NHL rights.

I don't think so. Would be an excellent play by them. They'd pretty much kill cable.
Edit: Looks like it's not in their plans

Because Rogers. They aren't huge fans of doing things that people will enjoy, more ways to withhold what they know people will pay for.

I've been pretty happy with the Flames coverage the past few years, with the exception of the audio delay issue. I think we forget how not to long ago we lived in the era of true blackouts, no TV coverage and PPV's.

We have it very good compared to year's past. But the more convenient things become, the more entitled people become.

I'll agree with the annoyance of blackouts of GC. I didn't pay 200 bucks and cancel my cable so I could watch less than 50% of the games.
They're not getting my money next year after this year's stupidity, as I'll just stream the games going forward. Thanks for nothing Rogers

Is it entitled, or annoyed with very obvious restrictions?

Just so I'm not misunderstanding, if you're saying that the people complaining about blackouts should be familiar with the NHL regional blackout policies and how this will effect their Gamecenter Live experience, then its both.

Not familiar with, I'm saying that there just shouldn't be any blackouts at all.
Blackouts are designed to give exclusive access to a broadcaster at the expense of the customer. I've never been a fan, but I can at least see the logic in it.
Now, Rogers has exclusive rights to both my regional broadcast AND my GameCenter feed. Either way, they make money. The fact that there is a blackout that allows them to dictate just HOW they want to make money (again, at customer expense) is hilarious.
If it was anyone but Rogers, I'd have held optimism that Rogers streaming and broadcasting would have been great for the consumer irritated with blackout restrictions. But here we still are.

The switch from Gamecenter to NHL.tv? Not at all. All aesthetic.
Gamecenter game availability? For Flames & Oilers games you will need to subscribe to Sportsnet, with the exception of Flames & Oilers games that are broadcast nationally (Wednesday night games or Hometown Hockey on Sundays for example). Otherwise you get everything else.

The sooner the NHL gets with the times and I can watch regional games through NHL.tv without having a cable subscription, the better. I would gladly pay a bit more than market price for it too. Cable is a endangered breed

These blackout restrictions were in effect before Rogers took over the national rights. It would have been nice to see them lift these blackouts and sell Gamecenter as the complete NHL package. The NHL however would be the ones to veto that. This would be the same issue if Bell had maintained the rights.

You might be right, as one irrational partner (NHL or Rogers) had to make the decision to not lift blackouts.
What motive would the NHL have for doing that though?

I agree MLB.TV is awesome I have been using it since it first came out and gets better every year. Hopefully their glitch for blackouts works the same since Jays games aren't ever blacked out.
