So there is no canon source of Plagueis having any relationship to Palpatine other than Palpatine knowing the story of him?
I like the idea of him being long dead before Palpatine ever came on the scene like a Sith legend. It adds depth to the Universe that way. If you really want to bring him into the story, make Snoke the apprentice who killed him and has been unnaturally keeping himself alive for hundreds or thousands of years. That would be way cooler than any of the other theories.

I actually like the idea of Plagueis being Palpatines master under the rule of two.
Palpatine fearing that his master is going to discover the secret to immortality which would mean that his master wouldn't need an apprentice.
Palpatine knowing that in face to face combat he stands the chance of being killed by his powerful master, so he shows patience, and cunning like he did later on when he rose to power. He waited for the time of his greatest advantage and killed his master in a manner that would be easiest for him to ascent to be the Dark Lord of the Sith.
Later he realized Anakin's insecurities about his wife and his premonitions of Padme's dying and his obsession with saving her, so he has the perfect bait. A Sith Lord that was working on that power, but didn't succeed because Palpatine in his ruthlessness and desire for power killed him before he could gain it.

Damn, how the #### did Titanic make so much money. Doesn't look like Star Wars will catch it internationally anymore (needs a little over 200 million, it might if it ever gets a re-release). Crazy that it's still ahead of Star Wars even unadjusted for inflation.

I have never seen Titanic, nor will I. I blame all the girlfriends for dragging their boyfriends to that flick, if more of us had a spine, Titanic would of sank at the box office too.

For some reason, Titanic was super far reaching. My Chinese parents, who hadn't seen an English speaking movie in theatres since probably the 50s in Hong Kong ended up watching Titanic in theatres. I have no idea how or why that happened, but it did.

IIRC the biggest day Titanic had at the box office was Valentine's Day several months after its released. So pretty much.

Went and saw Force Awakens for the 3rd time last night. I enjoy this film more each time I see it.
Also, the 'VIP' theatre they have it playing in here in Phnom Penh probably has something to do with that: 8:10 pm showtime, giant, squishy, reclining lazy-boys, a blanket, a pillow, popcorn and a drink included for 8 bucks? Yes please.

That sounds awesome. The theater near me has recliners and that was awesome. Blanket and pillow just sound heavenly. Do they want you to watch a movie, or to catch some Z's?

I want to join in on this Family Guy reference... and I tried so hard to. But I just can't bring myself to do it because I really just don't like Titanic. BUT... I... I do like Barry Manilow...

The only thing I remember from Titanic is that guy who hit the propeller when the ship was sinking.

Titanic wasn't all that great, but it was far better than this inept mess. The acting was bad and the script was far too reliant on ridiculously improbable coincidences. The new Vader-y guy looks like an underfed hipster, so add terrible casting to the list of sins. The effects were cool, but so are the effects in any big-budget movie nowadays, so no points for that. Nothing about this movie was original or interesting, it wasn't just an acknowledged rehash of the first Star Wars film, it was essentially a reboot done with even more wooden characters, no Alec Guinness, and Harrison Ford's zombie shambling around the set.
Also annoying - why are the rebels fine with the continued enslavement of sentients like BB-8? Apparently freeing the galaxy doesn't include all conscious beings, just those based on meat. It's two groups of fascists fighting for control, and at least one has a modicum of fashion sense. Let's hope they win out in episode VIII and free us from ever having to see those hideous orange flight suits again.
I can't be the only one who thought this was trash. Admittedly, I didn't think much of any of the other Star Wars films either, but at least the first two were original for their time, and had the iconic Vader and the anti-hero Solo to make them memorable. Nothing about this was memorable. Much of it was just bad.

I expressed similar concerns and was chewed out for 3 pages. Brace yourself.
What I've realized since my initial post, was what really killed the movie for me was the complete lack of tension, about halfway through the movie I realized that i knew how it was going to end and all the new characters were so poorly defined that I didn't care what happened to them. What's a story without tension?
