Tonight Ramo possibly stops the second goal which I thought was horrible but I doubt he stops the first either and it's hard for any goalie to stop the third goal after having your defenseman pushed into you and have it allowed anyway.

Hiller coughed up a juicy rebound before Gio ran into him because he was on his knees.
That sequence happened because Hiller played the original shot/dump in horribly.

Hartley wtf moments:
- Wideman out for 3/4 of that late 2nd period PP, killing the zone setup twice when the PP scored its two prior goals without him on it
- Jones, Colborne getting ice time while Gaudreau sat late in the 3rd when in need of an equalizer
Hartley chin scratchers:
- Hiller, period. Looked like he was breakdancing in the crease trying to make saves the first half of the game. Would continually resort to laying on his side. Was good in edmonton, but it was edmonton. He lost, so go back to your best tender.

I really dont know why wideman could score last year and not this year. He's 100% the exact same player. Maybe it's just as simple as him not getting shots off quicker because teams are onto how slow he is

I think it's time to stop pretending we're that much better than Edmonton. Look at their injury situation this season and look at ours. Both teams are bottom 5 caliber at this point.

Hiller letting out a rebound doesn't negate Gio getting pushed into him. Even had he not there's a good chance the puck gets knocked loose on contact and they score anyway.

He looks way worse this year for whatever reason. He's exactly the type of player that couldn't afford even a small step back because he was already so slow. He's getting older, it happens.

take away his goals and he still got beat 1 on 1 every time, tripped over bluelines, couldn't cover down low, etc
i know goals are goals but he is like the exact same player minus about 7 or 8 of them

Hamilton again with 5th highest ice time among our defenseman.
Don't know if I'm frustrated with Hartley or the fact that Hamilton's play not forcing him into giving him more ice time.
Hamilton hasn't been great lately. By next year, he needs to anchor the second pairing for this team to make a jump.

I don't know, he seems slower to me this year (if that is possible). Slower to react, slower on his feet... something. Almost seems out of shape, like he's missing that extra half second to make decisions and it's killing him. He was always bad defensively, that's not what I was getting at.

We let them cycle the puck in behind our net like no tomorrow in the first half. Was pretty disconcerting. I would have liked to have seen Ramo but hindsight is an amazing thing. I guess Hartley plays Ramo next game.. The winning ticket to 50/50 hockey

This only legit first line forward on this team is johnny. Monahan and bennett will get there eventually, but theyre not there now.
The important thing is that brodie, hamilton, monahan, bennett, and hockey continue to get better. Next year we'll get Jankowski, a free agent upgrade, a couple promotiona from the farm, and hopefully a solid draft pick. Everything is trending well!

Yeah...no.
There is a mile wide gap between the respective blue lines.
And you can't use forwards for reasoning on the other side of the coin, as they score less goals per game than us, even with all the "talent".
The only edge they have is between the pipes, and it isn't a big edge. But their guys are certainly more consistent, which is covering up a lot of warts.

Another road loss, another game trailing going into the 3rd, another game with poor bench management in the last 5 min of a game when the tying goal is what is needed most.

No one is changing the team they cheer for here.

Wideman is the worst D on the team. Period. Buy him out in the summer, please.

Engelland comes in and does nothing but play hard and smart and then gets benched every few games to make sure Hartley has everyone on their toes and messes with team chemistry.
This game is a game of inches and plays. I'm a firm believer that one small play can change an entire game. Whether it be a Jooris forecheck or a Colborne turnover. A lot of people look at the small plays and think they don't matter or that a bottom 6 player isn't the difference between winning and losing but I think it definitely can be. There are only 12 forwards, why be automatically short handed with Colborne and Raymond in the lineup? They aren't adding anything that a Poirier or Jooris can't add.

Can the Flames even put Wideman on waivers even with a NTC?

Yes. Only with a NMC are you exempt from waivers or AHL assignment.
