actually looking it as a whole, the NHL never said a thing. The media jumped all over it. As was mentioned by many above, let's wait to see what the NHL says and today they said it.
So kudos to them, they've stuck to the original process.

I hope this whole situation has proven how utterly useless and pointless All Star games are now. I wish the players would just get trashed and play the game drunk. Might as well make it fun.
