Only half-kidding of course, but it wouldn't be the first time Montreal has acquired management/coaches/players with this as a major factor.

Not only is Galchenyuk better/more proven, he also plays a premium position whereas Drouin is a smallish winger. If it were any other team, I would say no chance, but it's Montreal, so...
First of all, we have no idea who Montreal is offering - I just threw Galchenyuk's name out there because it has come up before.

As too the bold, I agree 100%. No way would I trade Galchenyuk for Drouin, but as you say, it's Montreal so...

All the players with french last names belong to the Habs apparently.

I loled when they thought Rene Bourque was francophone, but actually hardly knew the language.

Also loled when the Habs insider was on the Fan last week and was asked to comment on Florida's success, and the young players that have contributed to it, and he proceeds to rave about Jonathan Huberdeau for 10 minutes.

Subtle.

The same guy (Brian Wilde) that is reporting the Habs making a big push says Tampa wants a roster d-man and a "high" prospect.

He suggests Beaulieu + Scherbak/McCarron

Doesn't sound like Murray from Anaheim is too impressed with Drouin's trade demand (from Sportsnet article today - too stupid tech wise to post the link).

“If you listen to everybody and listen to all the… we’re one of the front-runners in that. Aren’t we in that? Every time I turn the page, I hear we’re making a deal with a certain team on the East Coast,” Murray told reporters, via the Los Angeles Times.
“There’s more than just him that’s probably out there and available right now. Let’s just leave it at that. We’re looking at a whole bunch of things. We know he’s there, but there’s a few others out there, too, that haven’t requested trades. Requesting trades on entry level, that’s something new for you and I… Entry-level players requesting trades. Amazing."

To me that is pretty good value for the Lightning (having not seen Scherbak/McCarron since their draft day). Are they still decent prospects?

I think so.

Scherbak is in the AHL now. 3 points in 11 gp. Slow start. HOLY! He had 82 points last season in the WHL with Everett.

McCarron (20 years old) looks alomst pro ready with 27 points in 37 gp.

Murray (as are most NHL GM's, except not surprisingly Edmonton and Vancouver's) are generally very conservative.... no surprise really that they would avoid that mess.
