Even at 1 idiot trolljob, I would want the NHL to step in.

For those of us who find the all-star game to just be a joke in general, I wouldn't really care. As mentioned somewhere I read, today, I'll just do the same as I do every year and not watch it.

comments from Pavelski and Mike Brown, former teammates of Scott in SJ.

Quote:
If Scott is not eligible to play in the game, the Pacific Division would likely need another captain. Pavelski and Calgary’s Mark Giordano might be candidates, since they are already captains of their respective teams.
Asked if he would want to be the Pacific Division captain, Pavelski said, “I think we wanted Johnny Scott to the captain.”

Well then, on that point, I stand corrected.

I think you're missing the artistry. A massive pic for a massive man, wearing a random jersey because who knows what team he's on at this point.

You seem to have a rather personal issue with people who are expressing sympathy for a player. What exactly is wrong with that? Why respond with such hyperbolic and elaborate 'trollish' posts that are designed simply to make fun of and instigate an argument?
John Scott is a human being, and there is nothing wrong with feeling sorry for him. Don't act like it is such a terrible thing to do and that people should feel stupid for empathizing with him. Empathy is something that is becoming a rarer commodity in this world, and hardly something to poke fun at someone else for having.
Hate to say it - and I honestly don't care if the mods give me a warning or even a suspension/ban - but please grow up.

Sorry If I offended you, I just feel the total opposite. Life craps on my face from time to time and no one gives a ####, yet poor millionaire thug John Scott got left off the all star team and legions people are legitimately sad for him and his family. It's annoying.

Why is it annoying that someone feels sorry for someone else? That is the point of my post to you. People don't have a right to sympathy or empathy if they make a certain income or achieve a certain status in life?
People are humans - regardless of socioeconomic status, race, religion, ethnicity, country of origin, or any other way we invent to categorize people who are different from ourselves. It does not mean they stop being human. Crapping on someone because they feel sorry for someone else is a horrible thing we do as human beings.

Let him play sentiments growing:
http://montrealgazette.com/sports/ho...-all-star-game
Quote:
The NHL sells violence — it won’t take steps to take fighting out of the game — and Scott is the biggest, baddest guy in the league. Enforcers are not only fan favourites, they’re also often the most popular players with their teammates.
Maybe fans really do want to see Scott at the All-Star Game. I do — especially now.
|
Quote:
“(Scott’s) dreamed of being in the All-Star Game the same way everyone else has, for him to get that chance is so cool,” Coyotes captain Shane Doan — a highly respected veteran around the NHL — told reporters in Arizona.

I can't feel sorry for someone who has acted the way he has and not only seems to have remorse for the things he's done, but instead repeated those actions. I doubt he felt sorry for KO'ing Jackman with a sucker punch or when he took out loui ericksons head.
It's too bad all this had to happen but I don't blame the league but the internet trolls who thought this would fly in the first place.

And interesting comments from TSN legal analyst.
http://www.tsn.ca/radio/toronto-1050...otive-1.424412
For those who don't want to listen he speaks about how the optics stink and the perception he was traded to exclude him from the game. He also raises the potential lost revenue to Scott from playing in the game, from lost endorsement possibilities at the weekend because he'd have stuck out like a sore thumb, and (very interestingly) how his NHL career might be over because of this.
His conclusion is that if he was with the NHL he makes sure that Scott plays in the game and is captain.

Lifetime Suspension

This was a story line to add interest to the all star game. The NHL should have embraced it as additional viewers would have likely tuned in because of this. There's already 2 dozen stars who don't make it so what if there's one more.

I love fights and tough guys and I'm willing to bet most young players would give most anything to be at the all star game. There are just so many people who play by the rules and give it their all who deserve it more. Scott is just a dirty player who has no regard for the safety of anyone.
If this was done for Mcgrattan or an honest tough guy, I'd be 100% behind it.
John Scott is a bad hockey player and IMO he seems like a bad person. He doesn't deserve to play in the NHL let alone at the all star game.

I wonder what borderline NHLer gets voted in next year to become a Career AHLer because of it.
The fans organized trolls in a way ruined his NHL career.

I still honestly don't understand why Arizona asked him to withdraw. What did it matter to them? In addition it was said he would face possible suspensions or fines from the NHL if he didn't go. I really dislike the Phoenix coyotes.

You're 100% right, I can't argue with any of that. Sorry, I have no answers for your questions (not sure if you wanted actual answers). I can't explain my feelings or why my brain processes things the way it does.
