Are you replying to my post? I said Giordano likely wouldn't have made it as OEL is a D. I don't see anyone suggesting Johnny wouldn't have made it.

Having John Scott on the all-star team has brought more attention to the all-star game then it's had in the last 20 years. I'm willing to bet it will have the highest ratings of any all-star game during that span. Everybody is talking about. And in the end, that's what the NHL wants. The league isn't going to do anything to stop it, or even say anything, because Scott will bring them exposure and viewer-ship. With that comes revenue.

People are going to tune in just to watch John Scott? Really?

Yup. I'm very curious to see how he performs in 3 on 3, especially with Johnny feeding him perfect passes.

It's the only reason I will watch or record it to watch later...

I watch the all-star game and skills comp every year, usually PVR'd so that I can skip through the commercials and slow-moving parts.
I am appalled that this has been allowed to continue... John Scott should just bow out gracefully at this point. What a disgrace!

Personally, I want to see the talent gap between him and the top stars of the league. It might give interesting insight into the gap between an AHL tweener and a top star.
I am not watching it just for him, and I wouldn't like it if talent like his was in future All Star games, but for this one time, it has potential to answer a few interesting questions I had in mind.

You guys make some good points. I was going to watch it anyway, but now that you mention it, it will be very interesting to see how Scott looks out there in comparison to real all stars.

Yep, add me to the list. Don't normally watch the ASG as the players clearly aren't even trying in the least, making it unwatchable. But I kind of want to see how Scott looks in this thing.

Detroit commentators today were speculating that John Scott might not make it to the all star game. His wife is expecting twins that same weekend, I guess we'll see how things play out

All the John Scott stuff aside, do people actually tune in to watch the "best on best" or the "showcase" of the top talent in the NHL? You realize Crosby isn't going right?
The All-star game is nothing but a lolly-gag of dipsy doodlers for 60 minutes. That's not the best hockey, and there is nothing wrong with that. It's just a fun time for guys, and I tune in from time to time to watch some of the stars having some fun on and off the ice.
If you are interested in the "best" hockey, tune into the SCF series.
It's funny to see guys getting bent out of shape that Scott is going. Like he's disrespecting some sacred and hallowed hockey tradition. Who the hell cares? To make the ASG even more interesting next year, they should have a team of all stars made up of the top 20 PIM players vs the top 20 point scorers, regardless of position. Randomly select six goalies using the lottery system, and take a jab at the perrenial lottery winning oilers while you are at it.

I've always loved watching the game. It's not the same kind of hockey we normally crave, but that's ok. As a one off, it's a fun chance to see guys play with people they normally don't get a chance to play with and the end result is usually a bunch of loose players that make some wonderfully skilled plays.
I enjoy it for what it is and always feel like a kid again when I watch it.

Safe to say Scott out and Domi in?
Can't think that the NHL won't jump at this opportunity to oust him.

Should be OEL in, with 3 on 3 I don't think it matters if we have 4 D-men.

Should (and could) be, but they might want an F just for parity through the teams.

I don't think you can remove a player voted in by the fans just because he changed teams. The fans voted the player into the starting lineup...they didn't vote him to be the rep of Arizona.
