Edmonton is one of the worst offensive teams in the NHL, when adjusted for games play they're about the 26th best team offensively.
I think its a good time to get Hiller in for a couple and rest up Ramo for a long road tough road trip.

I brought up trade because it seems that whenever this kind of thing happens with a player, someone asks if he was traded. I wanted to be that someone...again
100% agree that I think he's still injured and just wanted to see first hand how far along he was then realized he wasn't ready.

#Flames lines today:
Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland;
Bennett-Backlund-Frolik;
Raymond-Granlund-Jones;
Bollig-Stajan-Jooris
Looks like Colborne will continue to be scratched.

Ramo can't continue to play the number of games he has been for the rest of the season. They need Hiller to be a solid option. He finally gets the net and puts in a good performance. I think it's smart to show him that you have confidence in him. They shouldn't need a stellar goaltending performance to beat the Oilers. Strong defensive play from the rest of the team should be enough for a win.

You'd have to add, if you're Calgary.
Hudler + 2016 2nd
Hayes + Moore

But when you consider he could have been in against Florida without equipment and got the win and that Ramo is the number one now the only reason I go back to Hiller is if Ramo needs more rest.
5 game trip and the Flames in a dog fight you can't afford a spotty goaltending performance to cost you a game against the league's 28th best team. Lose that one and suddenly you need to win 3 of 4 with the last stop in Dallas and the Hurricanes playing well.
|
I agree with everything,
I don't believe Hartley is running the 1A/1B duo this year but Hiller needs starts and out of the next 5. I feel most comfortable with Hiller in net against the Oilers. Especially with the back to back coming up next weekend, Hiller may need to play one of those. Going in Cold/Unmotivated would be almost a guaranteed loss.

Yeah Moore actually has some value and wouldn't just be a cap dump.
Would rather not move a second.
Hudler ($2million retained-really only $1million since its for half the year)
for Hayes.

I'd rather have Granlund in that Colborne.
Jooris too.

Hudler's been hurt since the beginning of the year I think. Just not the same, something has to be off.

Actually, Hudler is closer to 2,000,000 and Hayes closer to 450,000 at this point in the season. If you traded them right now, both teams see a 2,450,000 cap hit on the season.
Still not a trade I like.

Hudler seemed fine in the last game, no??
Russell often has 'maintenance days' but the fact that he's one of our rumoured trading chips always has me intrigued when he's missing.

#Flames Jiri Hudler tweaked his groin again...he's out. Michael Frolik is in, Jonas Hiller will start vs. #Oilers tomorrow. #EDMvsCGY

Calgary can't afford for Hudler to take 3 weeks off.
Gah, these are the scenarios you want to avoid as GM. This is the same thing as Cammalleri.

I thought Hudler played well last game. Didn't appear injured to me.
Hopefully he's got the flu (in a good way)

As someone who has suffered a groin injury I can say sometimes it doesn't hurt when you're all warmed up and sweating but when you're not moving or in bed is when you really feel it. It is a very tricky injury and it can feel good one day and then the next it'll hurt again.
