Sorry Steel, I'm not totally sure what you're asking... so this might not answer your question...

Brackets just show you which part of the problem you need to solve first (you always solve the stuff inside brackets before you even look at what's outside the brackets - that's the rule with brackets).

So when I wrote "(4 + 5) x 3" I put those brackets around the "4 + 5" because I wanted to show that that person was solving the "4 + 5" first. Then when I wrote "4 + (5 x 3)" in the second attempt, I put brackets around the "5 x 3" because I wanted to show that that person was solving the "5 x 3" first. So basically, I just put those brackets in there because I thought it would more clearly show the two different ways people might try to solve the question (one person solved the addition first and got the wrong answer, one person solved the multiplication first and got the right answer).

I don't know if that answers your question?

If you're asking why "4 + 5 x 3 = 27" is wrong, but "4 + 5 x 3 = 19" is correct, that's because "4 + 5 x 3 = 27" solved the multiplication and addition in the wrong order. It's kind of hard to explain the "order of operations" on a forum like this, but I just went on YouTube to find a video that maybe explains it better:

which is easier? 5 goals in a game or 2 kickoff returns for a TD

How do you qualify now? There are no longer Safeway cards to swipe.

I wanted CGY to pull the goalie with 24 seconds left and have Sammy go for 5.

Believe you have to go to customer service and enter yourself. Not sure if it's ballots/daily, or just once.

(4 + 5) x 3 = 9 x 3 = 27

Or is it:
4 + (5 x 3) = 4 + 15 = 19

The answer is the second one. You need to know the "order of operations" (i.e., solve all the multiplications before you solve the additions, even if they're written in the reverse order, etc, etc).

Just a little math reminder in case Bennett scores 1 + 2 x 2 goals next game.
Oddly most of the skill testing questions use a left to right rule, rather than Bedmas, if you actually get the answer the look for, I remember Macs used to have some instant win thing on their frosters every summer and to claim it the answer always worked to to the current year using left - right and some obscure negative number using bedmas, it was obvious they wanted the year.

Serious question: Is there any keyboard other than QWERTY? And what would that look like? Would the letters be in a different order?

There are also keyboards designed to be operated with just one hand. ISTR that those put the less-used punctuation marks in some screwy places.

Too bad that Huberdeau intercepted Gaudreau's pass in the first otherwise Sam probably would've had 5.

French speakers outside of North America tend to use AZERTY, in Central Europe QWERTZ is common, and in Russia they use JCUKEN. The last one will be especially interesting if you want to see something unusual.

I'm sure Safeway carries hole in one insurance on this prize, they would actually be rooting for someone to win it, gets their name out there even more.

I wanted this too. Yeah the class and respect thing, I get it, but it would have been amazeballs for someone to actually win the safeway contest. In all likelihood, we won't get this close again for another few years.
