I agree. I switch Backlund and Bennett and see if we can finally get secondary scoring from somewhere other than our d and first line. If we got a 2nd line that can score consistently the Flames would start to turn into an elite offensive team

Granlund won't require waivers to be sent down. I think they will try to waive Raymond first but if he clears, its likely Granlund goes. If thats the case:

I doubt the team will ever be fully healthy at any point ever. At least not longer that a few days.

I'd put Jones on the third line over Jooris. If Gillies was healthy, it might be cool to see how he does as the back up for a few games (assuming we are out of contention).

Well there are two ways to approach this, what I would like to see and what I'm likely too see.

What I'd like to see:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Hudler-Bennett-Frolik
Granlund-Backlund-Jones
Bouma-Stajan-Jooris
Colborne/Bollig

Waive: Raymond

What we're likely to see is difficult to say cause I think it hinges on how well Granlund plays until we are fully healthy. If he plays well I think Raymond will be gone, if not he might get sent back down.

MAN, that's a absolute stinker of a roster from a cap management perspective.

By my count that's $9.3m on the 4th line, probably $8.75m on the bottom defence pairing, and anywhere from $2.5m-$4.2m in the pressbox, depending on who sits.

That's about $15m in wasted cap space. And only one of those contracts is expiring this summer.

Not good.

Actually Granlund has been the best Flames penalty killer and has helped stabilize the PK. I'd hate to see him go down now. Treliving mentioned in the interview today on the fan that he is happy that his faceoffs are improving and also mentioned Conroy is working with him to improve that facet of his game. He also stated that Granlund is now playing against far better competition instead of 3rd and 4th liners from the other team.
