Ramo was on the ice like 5 to 10 minutes before anybody even got on the ice. He looked okay during the practice through. I'm worried about Hiller, he took a lot of breaks during the practice... haha.

Those aren't breaks, that's just him contemplating where he's going to kick his rebounds out to later tonight.

Going to put all my money on the Panthers. I have zero faith in Hiller.

Thanks that's who I was wondering about also. Giguere also had a dehydration problem.
Quote:
Gigučre's nerves were also a contributing factor to severe dehydration problems, which plagued him early in his career.
Once, playing for Calgary in a game against Florida, he lost so much fluid in the old Miami Arena that he became physically ill in the goal crease. The Flames consulted with the sports medicine staff at the University of Calgary, which recommended that Gigučre use a water bottle equipped with a straw so he could take in more fluids and less air.
"Over the years, I learned more about myself and what I need to do more of," Gigučre said. "To be in better shape, and how to deal with [dehydration]by drinking more [fluids] It's something I go through every day. It's a battle, but it's nothing I'm not able to take care of."

I think for Ramo its a combination of both mental and physical fatigue. The beginning of the season wasn't easy for the team and the stress of being a Flames goaltender wasn't light.
As for the comments about comparing Kipper, although I agree, every athlete is different. Its tough to fault Ramo for fatigue of being a #1 when he hasn't ever done it before. The same scenario can be applied to d man I guess as well.
The reason why guys like Gio, Brodie, Doughty, Keith etc can chew up minutes is because they physically can. I am not sure if a guy like Smid can put up 28 minutes night in night out. Some guys can just physically take it to the next level. Another example? Jagr. The guy is showing almost no signs of slowing down yet he will be 44 next month, other snipers have put up points for years and then they fall of a cliff in their early 30's. Everybody just different.

Don't you call Poe an idiot! He's a little slow, sure. Maybe even homely and he has poor hygiene. But don't insult him

Did Hiller get tested anymore in the last 6 minutes. I left early to beat traffic but on the radio it sounded like he did. Up until that point he hadn't been.

Florida actually played like a hockey team in the last 6 minutes.

Too bad that team was the oilers... They couldn't score and the team that was just sitting back scored on them. Florida was not good last night.

Ramo playing 12 straight games and being tired is reasonable. Kipper was an anomaly of a goalie being able to play 65+ games; this is why he was a fantasy favourite despite the flames being a mediocre at best team. Players like Keith, Doughty, Gio, Ekblad, are all on a different level. If your getting regular playing time in the NHL you're a very gifted athlete; being able to step beyond that is being apart of the upper echelon verging on olympic pedigree. Ramo being tired after getting ridden hard and relied upon is commendable and its a godsend he didn't show signs of fatigue sooner.
**I say Olympic Pedigree based on all athletic disciplines( and medals awarded) being equal.*****
Good thing Hiller realizes he has potentially millions on the line as a 1B Goalie.

a. The Flames let up and the Panthers played for pride a bit.
b. They got quite a few more chances and Hiller was pretty good on them.
c. You suck for leaving early.

I never leaves game early unless it's a blowout, which this was. The only point of staying for the last 5 minutes of a blowout is to see frustrations boil and a couple of fights, and that went out the windows in the past couple of years with fighting being non-existent in today's NHL. Watching teams carry puck around for the last 5 minutes just trying to run out the clock is not something I value watching when I have to get up for work the next day at 6 am.
Had it been Edmonton or Vancouver I still would have stayed for a 5 more good minutes of taunting their fans, but we are talking the Florida Panthers here.
