Maybe it was Ferland making the pass I'm thinking of. I'd rather Monahan because of my pool 
But that little block shouldn't take away the assist any more than a goalie's save takes assists away for a rebound goal.

The last time the Panthers gave up 4 goals in regulation was Dec. 8th against Ottawa.
I couldn't even tell you the last time they gave up 4 in a period.

The thing with Bennett is he doesn't back down.
He could have another 3 fall in his lap just out of puck luck averaging out, and he's still be pressing in the third. That's what a competitive nature combined with a buzzsaw style of play and tons of skill will do for a player.
