What a player did last year is good proof, what a player has done so far this year is much better proof.
So Ramo shouldn't have gotten a start after being sent down? Because at that point "so far" he had been crappy.

Agreed - Hiller has been baaaaad this year. Maybe he willcontinue that way. But goalies are funny and, like Ramo, a little tweak and some rest may effect a big change. I seem to recall Hiller coming back strong when he sat out a few last year. Ramo too for that matter.

Um, the season after the magical run ('04 you must be referring to) he won the Vezina, Jennings and was a Hart nominee when he played 74 games. In fact, the more Kipper played, the better he was. He played 74 the season after and was a Veniza nominee again.

Off topic, but an interesting stat about Kipper is that he played 9 season in Calgary, and was a top 8 in Vezina voting in all but 2 seasons.

Man I miss that guy.

I'm willing to cut Ramo a break. Getting clipped in the neck by a shot and then getting hung out to dry the next night can likely tire anyone out. Let alone playing a dozen games or so prior to that. I'm also willing to give Hiller the benfit of the doubt. He had some time off due to injury and when he got back was lit up by the Sharks. Had some ok outings since then and hopefully has been working with the goalie coach on shortcomings.

The only reason Ramo got another chance this year was because everyone was playing like crap and the team couldn't make a move to pick up another goalie. I do agree that Hiller could come in and play lights out but the odds of that happening aren't hat good and that's why I originally said what I said. I wish this team had better goalie options.

Ramo is a backup goalie, so of course he is fatigued by playing every game.

No. Especially with goalies, that statement is false.

There's more than enough examples of good/elite goalies having though starts then going back to their career numbers. Equally good examples of terrible goalies having good runs. Should we trade Ramo for a Domingue?

It was these three goaltenders that sunk the Flames season in Oct/November as this team isn't going to make the playoffs so it's fitting that they will have the opportunity to sink them to a top 5 pick in the draft. If Hiller plays great it's a bonus but if he stinks it will all work out in the end.

Marc D'Amour. Badger Bob petitioned the league to allow him to put a water bottle on the top of the net, so he wouldn't have to constantly skate back and forth to the bench to get water. At least, I assume it was water in there

They're really not much different than the odds of Ramo coming in and playing well after being called back up when Hiller got hurt. The only difference being Hiller has sat longer than Ramo did.

and Hiller is older...and suffered from vertigo....and has played terribly when given the chance this year...but no, they're about the same.

Yep, they are. The first two points are pretty irrelevant to the situation and Ramo played like complete junk when given the chance up to that point as well.

I'm alright with Hiller going in.

I think of Kipper and his 70+ game seasons. Craziness.

Never played goal but is it really that much harder to play than a skater?

I would think that a 27 min a night defender would be more exhausting.

Catlike reflexes, literally better than a cat as the science of sport proved , yoga master level of flexibility, 20-50 lbs of extra gear. Yeah it's a little harder to be a goalie

EDIT: gear weight today actually might be equalto regular gear given the advancement of goalie tech since I goaltended back in the 90's

Sounds more mental fatigue than physical.

You ever played goalie? It's absolutely exhausting. My buddy that's in fairly good shape can't go to his knees sometimes because he's so tired by the end of the game. The equipment is hot, heavy and going down and up with all the equipment is incredibly tiring.
