I heard Ovechkin's bought some tickets too. He'll probably retire from hockey if he wins.

I've been wondering how much money is usually spent on a winning ticket. Like does anyone who spent $10 or less win or is it usually a ticket that was purchased for $100's or $1,000's?

i think just to be safe maybe shouldn't put calgarygeologist's name on tix? and maybe have a usa member do the claim if we win, to avoid potential problems and maybe don't mention them when border crossing. thoughts?
maybe i'm a paranoid over-thinker hah

I have family in the US, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. We will be able to claim the money one way or another.
And Ken, I totally see your point with the math...but then again if we "only" win $33mm I think that's fine. Frankly I would prefer to have it go that way as opposed to winning the full jackpot and dealing with all the psychos and sycophants on my own!

This lottery has a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket feel to it.

I joined just because I want to be know as one of the "CP 35" (or however many we're up to now)
And, I've always had a secret dream to be a part of the CP1% club.

Well shoot. Good thing it was just a simulator, as I don't plan on living 530 years...

I heard on the radio today that if you win and "give" money away, it may be subject to a "Gift Tax" which is 40%. So a nominee purchaser isn't a good idea (at least according to the radio thing I heard).
Every person's name who paid should appear on the ticket, or reference something that has every name (and share) on it.

If you win this jackpot you'd have enough to buy Baytex, Penn West, Trican, NewAlta, Canexus, and Savanna Drilling. Before taxes anyways.

I'm heading off to bed so getting in on the group buy is done (hmmhmmcamo, TSXCman and killer_carlson are in for the draw but we just need to get things finalized.)
Participation got very busy tonight and we're up to 55 shares. We should be good for around 600 tickets.

i saw something on facebook that suggested it was somehow illegal to bring a US lottery ticket in to Canada and then back to the US.
If this is true, then I am glad that lawmakers are protecting us from stuff like this as it is almost as dangerous as terrorist groups and what not

All the funnier because the reasoning is that it is an 'immoral' act (buying a lotto ticket).
Amusing that's its perfectly fine for them to sell it though....
