That's awesome they are having a ceremony for Reggie. It was a sad day when he was traded and it is still one of the worst/most unnecessary trades in Flames history. It would be nice if they gave him the Forever a Flame honour, he is the perfect player for that as he wasn't good enough to have a number retired but was an important part of the team for years.

Also, I am going to be that guy and say I don't get the whole One Day Contract thing. We all know he retired as an LA King and signing him to a one day contract doesn't change that.

He wants to retire a Calgary Flame this contract changes that whether you agree with it or not. What matters is that it's important to Robyn Regehr and to the Calgary Flames fans. We will never really remember what he did in LA but we remember him first as a Calgary Flame.

Except for winning a Stanley Cup with them

Really though, I am happy that he is retiring as a Calgary Flame. One of the most memorable and valuable players this organization has ever had!

Reggie retiring as a Flame the way it should be. Good on Contoy for approaching the Regehr and the Flames.
One of the toughest Flames D to suit up.
Remarkable how effective his style of play was for his entire career considering that horrible car accident broke both legs as a 19 year old.
Loved watching Regehr play as a Flame.
One word sums up Regehr punishing.

Good work Rogers. We didn't want to see the tribute anyways.

Is it me or is retired Robyn Regehr much more of a talker than Robyn Regehr the player? He's been on the radio a few times as of late and I feel I've learned more about him in those discussions than his career playing for the Flames.

Such a joke. In fact ever since that stupid tv contract got signed, I've noticed they never show the ceremonies anymore. CBC shows them. TSN used to. And I remember a couple on SN a while back. But ever since that contract, they never show it. Annoying indeed.

Some athletes are as dim as they appear. Given Regher's parents as missionaries, I bet he had a pretty dynamic upbringing and is a pretty smart and interesting guy.

Regher smart enough back in the playing days to keep the comments to cliches to the media; prevents you from saying anything that's going to be twisted up or taken advantage of.

Darryl Sutter, who singlehandledly transformed him when he got here in 2002 from a big defenseman who played a lot softer than he should've, to the mean SOB he became, also probably instilled that in him and that team as well.

I actually really quite enjoyed his season and a half with the Sabres too. Laid out some devastating checks, was a solid leader.

It was during a tv timeout, no channel would have shown it.

Snet showed this one, the day after the Iginla trade. Of course there were others when he came back, and those were shown too.

This one is a particular favourite because it shows Feaster more worried about cleaning the chunk of food out of his teeth, and Wiesbrod clumsily looking around, then joining in recognizing the greatest Flame player in it's history so far as everyone in the building except them were doing.

Clueless twits.

Would be nice if he could start mentoring Hamilton in the ways of the Tunnel of Death in his spare time.

That said, on Sportnset, they showed what happened about 2 seconds after the clip ends - Robyn turned to the guy wearing a Sharks jersey and offers his hand. The Sharks fan refuses awkwardly. My wife and I had a good chuckle over it.
