Isn't that enough to build the USS Enterprise?

The Enterprise didn't cost anything because the federation doesn't have money.

There are 292 million combinations. With the jackpot at $1.3 billion, you may start asking yourself why not just buy one of every combination, at $2 per ticket, for $584 million, and win the prize. Even though no one won last time, the odds of having a solo winning ticket are about 22%. The big thing though is you have to buy tickets in person (even though some people on here state they are buying online). If you bought one ticket every second, it would take more than nine years to buy all the tickets.

Lots of other fun stuff in the article here: http://money.cnn.com/2016/01/11/news...win-guarantee/

So it would take 2 people, 4.5 years....3 people, 3 years...or 1000 people, only 3.3 days!

Split the winnings with 1000 others and you have $1.3mil each. Not too shabby.

So the caveat with buying them online is that apparently those websites still send someone to buy the tickets in person, hence it's no different than getting a friend to pick it up for you.

In the article I posted above it says an Australia consortium tried to purchase all 7 million combinations for a Virginia lottery in 1992, but only got through 2.4 million before time ran out. From what I can find, they actually purchased 5 million tickets out of the 7 million, and did win the $27 million dollar jackpot by getting all six of the 44 numbers. The payout was $1.35 million per year over twenty years.

http://www.nytimes.com/1992/02/25/us...pagewanted=all

There was a little bit of controversy to see if they had won:

http://www.nytimes.com/1992/03/07/us...-virginia.html

The ticket was deemed to be bought in accordance with all rules, and the payout was awarded to a gambling syndicate, that included 2,500 investors.

Wait so if it takes 9 years to buy all the required ticket by yourself, if you got 468 people in on this, you could buy all of the combinations within a week? 1.2 million each to buy with a winnings of 2.7 million each? Profit of 1.5 million-ish?

Did I do that right? Or did I pull a Yand----

Only if you win solo.

Considering taxes, even 1 other person winning would swing your investment to a loss.

My wife is in the States right now.
I might be able to get her to grab tickets for anyone interested.
(like...5-10 people-ish, cause I know she won't wait around for 200 tickets)
But she's not home till Thursday, so it would have to work something like:
You email me the cash, she buys the tickets, and I send you a screen shot of your ticket(s).
My fee will be a paltry 1% of your winnings
Or I pull a Demler, take all your money, and never come on here again.
She's working, so no promises, but if she's able to do it, I can try to work some magic. I don't know what increments they are purchased in, so that'll have to be figured out too.

I would take 10 tickets ($20 worth) if your wife is buying and if there isn't enough interest in my proposed CP group buy.

I dont think I'd ever want to win this this much, especially if I was in the US. There's just too much notoriety that will come with the winning ticket. I'll stick with my $50 Lotto Max this Friday

Wouldn't the taxes on this actually be 50%? The tax on prize winnings in the states caps at 50% I thought. I know income tax doesn't get that high, but I was fairly certain, the tax rates for winnings were different.
