Isn't there another 9/11 Commission Report coming out after the election as well?
Both parties signed off on that.
Ah, the human animal. It could be the gas station attendant in Burnt Skunk, Saskatchewan or the head of the CIA and our vanity is all the same.

Well this seems to be gaining speed. Seemed rather shot down in the last thread, perhaps this'll add more fuel. Last time I believe it was inconceivable that there was even a report, or that it would be bad if there was. Can't wait till we hear.

How do you figure?
Last time I don't think it was inconceivable that there was a report. I know that I fully believe there is one, but I believe it'd be in everyone's best interest that it not be released until after the election. Lanny seemed to agree.
The report will be bad for someone... I think it's best not to react sharply regardless of what it says. Read the whole thing, analyse it, etc. Don't just fly off the handle, which we all know the typical person (of which the vast majority of American voters are) will do.

Well that is wise and kneejerk's never the way to go. I just think there's something lousy about it. I mean if Sinclair were more left/democrat, d'you think we wouldn't be seeing it? That all, but I see the merrits of not before hand too.

What I don't like about this "don't fly off the handle" excuse is that what it really means is "don't put it out there because people will vote against George Bush if they get a chance to read this".
We know full well that this is not a report that is going to make Kerry/Edwards look bad, so the powers that be are witholding important information until after the election. It's such a con job -- "don't show 'em anything until after they've voted for us, then they are stuck with us". That's what is going on here.
Frankly, I think people should be flying off the handle. This isn't an HRDC boondoggle or advertising scandal. If there is one thing to be flying off the handle about, it's this.

That's one heck of an assumption you're making.
Believe it or not, there still could be a chance that it reveals that Bush & Co. made the best decision with the info they were given and that they were not at fault. This would be tremendously defeating to the Democrats.
I don't necessarily believe that this is the case, but it's still there.

That's fine with me if it's tremendously defeating to the Democrats. If this report proves that the Republicans have been flawless in dealing with terror and intelligence, they deserve to win. That's the biggest issue of the election, so if they are great at it then good for them. Elect away!
Fly off the handle, knee jerk reaction, whatever. The event was more than three years ago. People deserve to know the truth and vote with that knowledge. If someone loses the election because they screwed up -- that's exactly what is supposed to happen.
It should be "here is the information, now vote", not "vote, then we'll give you the information".

I totally agree with Rouge...
Knee jerk reactions be damned...its better than re-electing someone who shouldn't be there because of past actions, giving a new chance for more poor decisions.
Withholding knowledge like that to the public seems pretty shady to me...

Hey I think it should be released, unlike the 30 year old Kerry senate arguement, this is not only current but highly relevant. You know though, if you're deciding who to vote for and have given every chance to Bush along the way, and this is what tips the balance, where the hell were you?! It would have been better to be informed throughout the process than kneejerked it at the end. IMO
